IMPROVED SPOOL-SHOW-CASE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent end inakug part of the same.
full `and exact description thereof', enabling othersA skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is aven-tical section through the line a; x; lFigure 2, a perspectiveview; and
Figure 3, section through line z z.
Construction.
, A is a revolving spool-,iike' beam, consisting of a pair of disk-wheels, rigidly attached, one at each end of an enlarged shaft, through which isl passed and fastened a smaller shaft, B, which extends through the heads C and D, to wheel or lever E, ati'ording there a means of operating A,
F F` are the trays, which arcvdesigned to hold the goods for display, which are suspended, (at each end,`) at their upper vextremity,`by means of aneye, which fits loosely over a stationary pin, H, on the inner face, and near the outer edge of the disk-wheels.
By't-his means, the yrotation of A does n'ot upset the trays F, (which are necessarilynarrow, to show as much ofthe goods that are upon them as possible.) but allows them, by their own gravity, to remain at all times the same side up.
The base, G, is provided with drawers,.ior the accommodation of such articles as could not be convencylinder-form, provided at the top with a revolving cover, J, which oscillates upon the shaft B, by means of its heads C C and shaft K, which fits over shaft B, and extends through either head, D D, and through one head D far enough to admit of wheel L, by which means the' cover AJ may be thrown open olshut at pleasure.
The size of the apparatus, and number of trays employed, depend altogether on the amount of diiereut stylesof goods to be displayed, heads D D affording bearing forshaft K, (through which passes and rotates shaft 13,) besides closing both ends of case I, so
that it has but one opening, which is at J'.
l Operatiom By means of hand-wheel L, cover J is thrown back, (opencd,) exposing the trays, with goods which happen to be at the upper portion of the disk-wheel. It' the desired color or style does not make its appearance at that point, beam A is revolved by means of wheel. E, bringing each and every tray, and its conteo ts', to the point of observation, after which' cover J is thrown forward (closed) by the same means as opened, protecting its contents from the circulating of air,1ight, dust, 811e. v
Claim. WhatI claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The suspended trays F, in combination with revolv-V ing beam A, cover J, and hollow shaft K, operated and arranged substantially as described.
J'.N. LEONARD.
