IMPROVEMENT IN MATCH-BOX'.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the SEI-me.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, L. W, BEECHER, of Westville, in the county of New Haven, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Match- Boxes; and I' do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the lettersl of' reference marked thereon, to bea full, clear, and exact description ofthe same,'and which said drawings constitute Vpart of this speciicatiomand represent in-.

This invention relates to an improvement in boxes -for packing matches for market; and consists in forming the bottom and two sides from the saine piece of material, bent to the proper angles to each other, combined with the two ends, each grooved so as to clasp the edge of the two ends, and whether the cover be attached to or part of the same.
In order to the clear understanding of my invention, I will fully' describe the same, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings. d
-From a strip of thin wood, I cut to the required size, by preference, so as to form the front A, bottom B, back O, and cover D, and score the wood at the place where the angles are to be formed, as denoted in broken lines, g.'2. The two ends E E, I 'form om a thicker material, and"groove them at a, so that when the two sides are turned up, the grooves iu the ends will lock ou to and secure the two sides in tbe position seen in iig. 1, the ends settingon to the bottom, thus completing the box, and producing an' article cheaper thanpaper boxes.
. While it is essential that the two sides A and C be inone and the same piece, it is not essential that the cover be in the same piece, inasmuch as when the cover is placedin position, the label which is placed upon the top may overlap, so as to secure the cover at its edges. p
