TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it knownthat we, ALMON, HUNT and Q. G. CHAPMAN, of Maco'mb, in the county of McDonough, and, State of Illinois, have inventeda new and improved Wagon-Seat; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact descriptionof the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference'marked thereom This invention relates to an improved mode of arranging the springs for wagon-seat, which willbe fully described hereinafter.
In the drawings, 0 represents a wagon-seat, of any desired form, to the bottom of which are fastened the cross-pieces c 0. These pieces are inclined in such manner as to fit accurately the curved upper sides of springs B. B B represe'nt springs, constructed as described, which are firmly fastened together at their centres, as shown, the lower springs B-being connected together by the cross-pieces b, and having the hooks, b, which rest upon the sides of the wagon, and keep the seat in place. v t
The upper springs B are fastened to the cross-pieces c c by means of the headed pins cl d, as shown, which latter pass through slots!) in the springs B. These pins are provided with threads upon their upper ends,v
upon which nuts are placed, by which means a. secure connection is made.
The slots b aremade somewhat longer than the diameter of the pins 0! d, in order to allow the'springs to have proper play when weight is put upon them. p v
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The springs B B, cross-pieces b c, hooks'b, pins 01, and seat 0, the whole being combine-d and arranged as described. 1
This specification signed and witnessed, this 11th day of March, 1868. w p ALMON HUNT,
c.' c. CHAPMAN.
