TO ALL WHOM IT MAY .ooncnmm Be it known that I, DAVII WALKER, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex, and State of New Jersey,'have mndean improvement upon my already-patented Blotter; and I do hereby declnre'the following to be a. full and exact description of the same, reference being had herein to the drawings that accompany. this specification, makingpart of the same.

My improvement consists in the addition of a. detached strip of metal, or other snbstanee snfiiciently hard, constructed and adapted to use as a ruler andns spaper-cutter, held to the edge by the same springs as confine the blotting-paper 'to the holder.

A strip of thin me ta.l,.or of any other substance sufliciently hard for the purpose, fig. 3, a, is shaped to fit close to the lengthwise edge of the blotter-holder, and is'pl aced between the spring 6 and the blotting-paper, bothpaper and strip being thereby confined to the holder.

The lower edge of a projects s'ufliciently to be a. convenient ruler, and also is a cutter or stripper for the paper, when, by a slight turn of the hand, the edge is pressed down on the paper.

What I claim as an improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The thin strip of metal or hard suhetdnce a, constructed, adapted,a'nd attached to the blotter, in the manner and for the purpose specified.
