1 IMPROVEMENT IN'P-LOUGHS.
flit: firinhule triimh to in tlgm Extinct finte ut mm making next at tinsame.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that-I, JOHN D -PECK, of the "town of Triangle, county of Broome, and- State of New York, 1
have inventeld a. new and useful Improye ment'in the Common Farm-Plough; end I do hereby declare that the following is ii. full and exact description thereof, reference heing had to the aooompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon.
The construction of nloughs heretofore has been to leave the top open, allowing stones, sea er 1d stubble to fall in between the mould-he Hd and land-side and lodging upon the'cross-rods st the lower ends of the handles,.
causing also the soil that fails over the mould-hoard to nccumulate inside the plough, thereby adding materially to the drought of the plough anti to the labor of handling it.
My invention consists in arcap-or roof to cover the open spnce between the mould-board and land-side, placed at such an angle as to oausefeverything that falls uh in'it to slide oifleitiieiover themould-board or at the back oi" the plough. v
To enable others to make andruse my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
The cap'= qr roof, I make of wood, iron, or anysuitable materiah-in the form and manner shown in -Figures I-I. Thecap or roof is attached to the' up'per edge of the mould-boardnnd to theright-hand handle of the plough, as shown at A, Figure II, rising" thence until it meets the beam at or' near the top, to which it is fastened by bolts or screws, as shown at B, Fig. II, anll extending thence downwards until it rneets the land-side of the plough, as shown at C, Figure III. 7
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The epplieation'of a. cap or roof to the common forth-plough, as herein iiescrihed, and for the purposes JOHN D. PEOK.'
