IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANUI'CTURE 0F SLEIGH-BBLLS.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM E. BARTON, of East Hampton, Middlesex county, State of` Connecticut, have invented a. certain new and useful Improvement in Sleigh-Bells; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters of reference thereon. l i

My invention and improvement in sleigh-bells consist in making them of a globular form, as shown in the drawings, and without the angular projection either On the inside or outside Of'the bell, as in sleigh-bells heretofore made. A 'A I have discovered that the sharp angle inside the old bells, shown at e e, g. 1, diminishes vibration, and also that the increased thickness of' section which. practically must be made at that part of the bell in casting also interferes with vibration. If such bells are silver-plated, the plate at this part of the bell wears 01T by use and by cleaning. By making the bell of globular form, I have produced a bell of superior quality from the .same or less amount of' metal.

The mode of casting sleigh-bells is -wellA known, and therefore I shall not describe it here, there being no change necessary to produce my globular bell except a change of form of the mould and core, which will be obvious to those skilled in the art of casting sleigh-bells.

I claim, as of my invention- The globular sleigh-bell, cast in one piece, as herein described.
