TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, JOHN W. ERNST, of Heidelberg, Berks county, State of Pennsylvania, have invented an improved Adjustable Cultivator; and I do hereby declare the following to be an exact description thereof reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.

The-nature of my invention consistsin the construction of the cultivator diamond-shaped, hinged at the back end and sides, and sliding on a centrepiece in front, so as to widen or narrow the machine, and be adjusted to the Width required to furrow the soil, with-five barrow-teeth on the front angle'and five shovels on the rear angle.

A represents the diamond-shaped frame with fourhinges B B B B, the front hinge B sliding upon the centre-piece or beam 0 and adjusted by a bolt, D, that passes through the hinge plates and the beam 0, and as the front part or angle of the frame is drawn back the side hinges yield, and the frame is widened at the centre. The plough handles F are located in the centre of the machine so as to raise or l0W8I.l;ll8 point when in operation to conform to the irregular surface of the ground. The clevis E is also easily adjusted on the front ofthe beam by the hook Gr beingv inserted in the uperturesH higher or lower. The five barrow-teeth J are in front and the five shovels K are in the rear. p i

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The diamond-shaped cultivator, jointed and adjusted as herein described, when combined with the teeth, shovels, and regulating clevis, for the purposes set forth.
