TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, CHARLES W. RHOADE, of the city of Indianapolis, county of Marion, and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Latch for Fastening Gates, Etc.; and I do hereby1 declare that the following is a. full and enact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and the figures and letters of reference marked thereon.
' 'Ihe nature of the invention consists in the peculiar construction and operation of the said latch. The said latch is to be made ot' iron, brass, or any other suitable metal. i
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I prooeedto describe its construction and operation, as follows The latch consists, first, of thelatch-plate, represented by letter A of Figure l of said drawings, which said plate is provided with a latch, D, a catch, B, n stop, J, at the bottom of slot H, so as -to keep the sliding edge of the latchD as represented by letter E in aproperxposition to be raised and fall over the catch B, as the gate closes, where it will be firmly held, all-oi` which is represented by No1-of said drawings.
