Description

A. F. TARR.
FASTENING OP MOSQUITO BARS T0 WINDOWS.
No. 41,650, Patented Feb. 16, 1864.
65$ fwwziar 4 7i UNITED STATES PATENT OF ICE.
ASA F. TARR, OF-ROGKPORT, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEDFASTENING OF MOSQUITO-BARS To wmloows,
Specification forming part of Letters Patent So. 4 l ,650, dated February 16,1864.
To all whom it maymoncer'n:
Be it known that I, ASA F. TARR, of Rockport, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Mode of Fastening Mosquito-Bars to Windows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in providing a hook or bracket attached to the mosquito bars to hold the sash at any desired height. There are pins through the frame of this bar to hook the hook or bracket to. These pins go through a groove to admit of the hook or bracket, which aremade ofstrong wire; also a cross-piece, which may be shifted to any place opposite the bottom of the sash to prevent the wind blowing the bar in from the "sash, thus preventing flies and mosquitoesfrom getting intothe roomya'lso a thin piece of metal at the bottom ofthe'frame to keep it steady.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use-my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
I construct a common mosquito-bar. In the side pieces of the frame of this bar I make grooves lengthwise. Then I put wire pins through the sides, which are left bare in'the grooves. The books go over the pins in the grooves, which are deep enough for the tops of the hooks to be in flush, which will enable the frame-to 'lic snug to the 'sasln The hooks may be shifted toany of the pins to raiseor lower the sash to suit those inthe room. h In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a window with the mosquito-bar in place. Fig. 2 represents the mosquito-bar with the hooks a a andthe cross-piece band thin piece of metal 0 at the bottom. Fig. 3 represents the hooks or brackets.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-' The combination and arrangement of the sash d with the frame the net f, the hooks a, the bar b, and plate 0, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
ASA F. TARR.
