Be it known that I, SAMUEL M. RICHARD- soN, of the city and State of New York, have invented, made, and applied to use a Vcertain new and useful Improvement in Blind-Hingesg and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing,ymaking part of this specilication, wherein I have represented by a per- ,pective view my said invention as applie t0 a Venetian blind. i

In the construction of hinges for Venetian blinds it has been usual heretofore to form them out of three piecestwo of which are welded together' in an L form, and the third piece is bent up to form an eye to take the hinge pin, and is welded onto the end of the L shaped piece. The hinges thus formed are screwed onto the outer `faces of the blinds, and are considered very far `from ornamental, in fact many attempts" have been made to dispense with these unsightly hinges, by the use of what `are termed the parliament butts, but these afford no support to the angles of the blind frames, and

hence where a butt hinge is used the hori` zontal stiles of the blinds require to be very Wide.
