Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the temperature distribution of a cell uniform by installing manifolds each of which crosses the central part of cell surface in each cell to be stacked to passing reaction gases. CONSTITUTION:A fuel gas header 8 and an oxidizing gas header 9 are installed in the upper and lower parts of a cell stack 7 formed by stacking unit cells. Fuel gas is introduced into the fuel gas header 8 as shown in the flow direction 14 and passed through a manifold 10 crossing the central part of the cell stack 7 and branched, then supplied to each cell. Oxidizing gas is introduced into the oxidizing gas header 9 as shown in the flow direction 15 and passed through a manifold 10 crossing the central part of the cell stack 7 and branched, then supplied to each cell. By this reaction gas flow, the temperature of reaction gas during cell operation is made uniform in the inlet and outlet thereof.
