Abstract

The transmission spectrum of the filter comprises at least one range chosen from among those indicated hereinafter: a) for a wavelength (wl) of 540 nm: > 1% and for a wl of 620 nm: > 20% and b) for a wl of 400 nm: > 30% and for a wl of 620 nm: > 1% and for a wl of 700 nm: > 40% and c) for a wl of 420 nm: > 3% and for a wl of 480 nm: > 20% and for a wl of between 620 and 720 nm: d) for a wl of between 480 and 660 nm.

Description

 The present invention relates to colored filters for chromotherapy, glasses having such filters for "glasses" and the application of these filters, included in these glasses, or used in other ways, to the psychological rebalancing of a subject.

 Some colors, such as green or blue, are said to have a calming effect, while others, such as red, are believed to have an adverse effect. These assessments are in fact quite crude and not necessarily conform to reality.

 The Applicant's work enabled him to note that by properly selecting the color of filters, it was possible to obtain screens which, when they are interposed, for a relatively short time, between daylight or another suitable light source t and the eyes of a subject, are likely to have a beneficial action on the psychological level of the subject in question.

 More specifically, the filters according to the invention are intended to reduce or eliminate "stress", nervous, physical or mental tensions, as well as psychological disturbances; thus compensate for the nfas # es effects, such as insomnia, aggressiveness, etc., of external aggressions and negative emotions (fear, anxiety), and consequently improve the subject's behavior.

These aims are achieved by means of filters characterized in that their transmission spectrum comprises at least one range chosen from those indicated below.
a) for a wavelength of 540 nm: minimum 1% and maximum 5 -Ó
for a wavelength of 620 nm: minimum 20% and maximum 75%
b) for a wavelength of 400 nm: at least 30% and air 55%
for a wavelength of 620 nm: minimum 1% and maximum 65%
for a wavelength of 700 nm: at least 40 8

Preferred embodiments of the invention corresponding to filters belonging to one of the four families above, are characterized by the maximum transmission times
- type a), maximum transmission at 660 nm or 664 nm or 666nm or 6 # 0nm.

 - type b), maximum transmission at 400 nm or 696 nm.

- type c), maximum transmission at 476 nm or 492 nm
or 500 nm or 504 na or 520 nm.

 - type d), maximum transmission at 500 nm or 700 nm.

The choice of the type of filter to use depends on the
disorders from which the subject to be treated and the subject
himself. There is therefore a part of trial and error in the
determination of the filter or filters which are suitable for a subject
given within a selected range and sometimes the
subject needs several types of filter between which
he makes his choice according to his condition.

Filters can be made by any process
known. Each can be formed from a single colored substrate
having the desired transmission spectrum or the
juxtaposition of several colored substrates including
individual spectra add up.

In the present description and in the
claims, by "filter" is meant a colored substrate
having alone, or a juxtaposition of colored substrates having together, the transmission characteristics according to the invention.

 Filters can, moreover, be transparent or only translucent: even incorporated into a spectacle frame, they are not intended for prolonged and, a fortiori, permanent wearing; they may therefore not allow the vision of the environment through them.

 When they are translucent but not transparent, and formed of a single substrate, this substrate can be frosted.

When they are formed from the juxtaposition of several substrates, one of these may be a diffuser, colored or not.

 As colored substrates and as diffusers, it is advantageous to use commercial plastic films normally intended for the cinematographic industry, such as the products distributed by the company Rosco.

 According to the desired effect, when the filters according to the invention are incorporated, as "glasses" in a spectacle frame, said glasses can be identical or, on the contrary, the right lens can be constituted by a filter different from that constituting the left glass.

The invention is described below in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings in which
FIGS. 1 a and 1 b represent, respectively, the transmission spectrum of color filters used respectively as left glass and as right glass of a pair of chromotherapy glasses, called "Li glasses",
FIGS. 2 to 13 represent the transmission spectrum of colored filters used as the left and right glasses of pairs of chromotherapy glasses, called respectively "glasses L2 to Ll3", and
- Figure 14 is a schematic sectional view taken through the glasses and the nasal bridge of the glasses L1.

 In FIGS. 1a, 1b, 2 to 13, the wavelength expressed in nanometers is plotted on the abscissa and the percentage of transmission is plotted on the ordinate. The representation of these spectra clearly constitutes the best and most precise definition of the transmission characteristics of the preferred filters according to the invention.

 All glasses, except the L1 and L1O, are translucent but not transparent.

 As can be seen from FIG. 4, the glasses L1 consist of a frame comprising a nasal bridge 1 in one piece with the annular parts la and lb adapted to receive glasses, in a manner known per se. To this end, a receiving groove 2a and 2b is provided respectively in each part 1a and 1b. The references 3a and 3b designate the spectacle branches and the references 4a and 4b of the hinges.

 In the groove 2a are inserted two colored and transparent substrates S1 and S2, juxtaposed and together forming a filter L1G. Similarly, in the groove 2b are inserted two colored and transparent substrates S3 and S4, juxtaposed and together forming a filter L1D. The filters L1G and L1D, being made up of different substrates, are different, as is clear from their spectrum shown in Figures la and lb.

 By way of example, the references in the ROSCO range of substrates used to make the color filters for certain glasses are given below, the spectrum of which is shown in FIGS. 2, 9, 11 and 12.

In these examples, the substrates have been juxtaposed in the order indicated, from the inside to the outside, but in fact this order is not critical. All the diffusers used in these examples are not themselves colored.

 The filters according to the invention, incorporated into spectacle frames, were subjected to wearing tests on several dozen people bound by a confidentiality agreement.

These people were informed that
- the effectiveness of the glasses depended, among other things, on the time and condition of the user
- the benefits were particularly remarkable at the start of the day and in times of stress, emotional imbalance, fatigue, excitement, etc .;
- it is important to allow the chromotherapeutic action of the glasses to continue for a few minutes after removing them, and to exteriorize only gradually (this is why the successive and immediate wearing of different glasses is not indicated)
- the influence of glasses should be observed calmly in order to be able to determine the most appropriate use; and
- it is strongly advised not to exceed a few minutes of wearing the first days and, thereafter, never to use them excessively (a wearing of 5 to 20 mn maximum is generally sufficient).

Some cases are reported below
Observation # 1
Age 66 years - female - without profession
This person suffers from insomnia, migraines
frequent and depression for about forty years
she tried many drugs and remedies of all
kinds, with very short-lived results, in particular
for insomnia and migraines for which it is not
never really experienced improvement.

She wears L2 glasses, at bedtime, ten
minutes for four months. She returns to sleep
from the start of the experiment and sees his migraines
gradually diminish and become scarce.

Observation 2
Age 35 years - female - teacher
This person has suffered for fifteen years from
nervous weakness which is expressed by many symptoms
physical and psychological, including loss of vitality
almost instantaneous and mental confusion.

From wearing L2 or L1O glasses, depending on
needs, for a period of 5 to 15 minutes, it finds
each time, in the minutes that follow, clarity of mind
and dynamism.

Observation 3
Age 48 - female - accountant
In depression for ten years, this person undertook, a year ago, to follow relaxation sessions which alleviate his anxieties.

Nevertheless, she then absorbs daily allopathic medicines for anxiety <Veratran), for tremors (yttrium 100), four hypnotics (Havlane,
Romypnol, Stilnox, Praxinor), a blood pressure corrector (Heptamyl), a medication for constipation (Laxamalt) and one for blood circulation (Esberiven).

 Wearing glasses L8, L11 and L12, daily in periods of 10 minutes, as needed during the day and in the evening before bedtime, allows him in four months to gradually decrease, then completely eliminate his medication with constant improvement of his state of health, the return of dynamism and optimism, sleep, the cessation of tremors and a regularization of his blood pressure.

Observation # 4
Age 33 years - female - biologist
This person wears glasses L11 and L12 during
the last months of her pregnancy, daily for
ten minutes, depending on his state of anxiety and
after work. Each time, after
several minutes, the disappearance of his stress and
the appearance of a deep state of relaxation.

She wears L12 glasses for 20 minutes just before
his delivery. This one, which lasted half an hour,
unfolded in the best conditions, without any
apprehensive and in a state of relaxation
mental.

Observation 5
Age 47 years - male - commercial director
This person, former polio, suffers from
stress, anxiety, palpitations and arrhythmia.

She wears glasses over a period of six months
L9 daily, at a rate of 5 to 15 minutes, and notes as soon
the first weeks a nervous rebalance and
psychological, a very marked decrease in stress and
regularization of his heart rate.

Observation # 6
Age 41 years - female - without profession
In depression for five years, she follows several alcoholic detoxification cures and takes Laroxyl 50, Neuleptyl and Tranxene 58 daily.

 The practice of relaxation, for a year, has improved his condition without eliminating his anxiety attacks, alcoholism and depression.

 She wears daily, for five months, in periods of 5 to 10 minutes, the L9 and L12 glasses, several times a day, as needed. This allows him to find a taste for life, to find a normal sleep and to almost completely eliminate his depression and his alcoholism.

During this period, she was able to dispense with all of her medications.

 The invention is not limited to the examples of color filters of which the transmission spectra have been shown, nor to their use mounted in glasses.

One could, for example, use these filters to equip the lighting means of relaxation cabins or in any other way, provided that the subject can visually receive a light beam of the desired color.

S3, S4) whose effects add up.  7 - Color filter according to any one of  claims 1 to 6, characterized in that it has a spectrum  of transmission as aue shown in one of the laps,  lb, 2 to 13.  8 - Color filter according to one of the  claims 1 to 7, characterized in that it is  transparent.  Q - Colored filter according to one of the  claims 1 to 7. characterized in that this tool is  translucent but not transparent.  10 - Colored filter according to one auelcongue of claim 9, characterized in that it is made by juxtaposition of one or more transparent colored substrates and a diffuser.  11 - Chromotherapy round glasses comprising a frame (1. la-b, 3a, 3b) adapted to receive a right "glass" and a left "glass", characterized in that each of said glasses consists of a filter (L1G, LlD ) according to any one of claims 1 to 10.  12 - Spectacles according to claim 11. characterized in that its right lens is constituted by a filter (LîD. S3-S4) different from that (L1G, S1-S2l constituting its left lens.  13 - Application of the color filter according to any one of claims 1 to 1O or glasses according to claim 11 or 12, to the relaxation of a subject and / or the recovery of its dynamics.
