Es un problema común en este tipo de aplicaciones el hecho de que la humedad, condensación o salpicaduras ocasionales de agua puedan alcanzar los terminales eléctricos, penetrando en el conductor eléctrico por capilaridad entre el cuerpo del terminal, el núcleo del conductor eléctrico (normalmente multifilar) y la envolvente aislante de dicho conductor eléctrico o cable.
