Abstract

A method which comprises adding a solvent having a solubility parameter of 7 to 10 to a solution of an aromatic hydroxy compound containing an aromatic carbonate to thereby precipitate the aromatic carbonate as crystals and separating and recovering the precipitate. The method is an advantageous one by which a high-purity aromatic carbonate can be separated as a solid from a reaction mixture solution obtained by reacting an aromatic hydroxy compound with carbon monoxide and molecular oxygen in the presence of a catalyst. Also provided are a method of effectively recovering a catalyst and a method of recycling the catalyst.
