Description

The invention relates to a brush, in particular a brush for applying a product. cosmetic on keratin fibers, in particular for applying mascara to the eyelashes or a dye on the hair, as well as a makeup device comprising this brush, the brush having a curved core.

Usually, a brush for applying a cosmetic product comprises a elongated core formed by the helical winding of two branches of a metal wire, which was folded into a U before the branches were twisted, hairs implanted radially in this core and clamped between these coiled branches. Such brushes can be of various shapes and include cutouts.

In the event that these brushes are used to apply mascara to the eyelashes, such shapes and such cuts are provided to allow obtaining a more or less loaded make-up, more or less elongation and bending important eyelashes.

We know brushes having the shape of a torus fragment, these brushes being obtained by the torsional arc of the core of a cylindrical brush. Such brushes have a convex face, a concave face and two substantially flat. Such brushes are not very easy to handle: in fact, if the user does turn the rod of such a brush between its fingers around its axis, to apply a product on the eyelashes for example, it must constantly correct the distance of the brush eyelashes. It is difficult with these brushes, to make up the corner of the eye without burrs on the eyelids and the wing of the nose. In addition, it has been found that such a brush charges the eyelashes. smoothing and separating them little. Brushes obtained by the arc twist of circle of the core of a cylindrical-conical brush have the same drawbacks.

It therefore appeared desirable to have brushes allowing good grip. load of the eyelashes by the brush to ensure a good smoothing of the product and a good separation of eyelashes. The invention also aims to provide a brush which remains simple and economical to apply and practical to use.

The Applicant unexpectedly discovered new brushes for applying a cosmetic product, which when used to apply a mascara on the eyelashes make it possible to obtain a very separate, very curled, very elongated with a product distributed over the entire length of the eyelash. These brushes are also very easy to handle and make it possible to easily make up the corner of the eye.

The subject of the invention is a brush comprising a rod defining an axis (X-X) main ; a core comprising first and second ends, the first end being integral with the rod; hairs implanted radially in this core, the end of the bristles defining the envelope surface of the brush, this surface envelope having first and second ends and having, over at least part of its length, a cross section of elongated shape along one more axis long length (Z-Z), characterized in that the core describes a curve (C) in a plane of curvature (P) and that the longest axis (Z-Z) is parallel to the plane of curvature (P).

The cross section of the envelope surface is understood to mean a section of the surface envelope in a plane perpendicular to the core.

Preferably, the curve (C) is substantially circular. The part of the brush is finding in the concavity of the curve (C) forms a first side called comb. The part of the brush on the opposite side also forms a comb.

The cross sections of the envelope surface of the brush being elongated, according to the axis of greatest length, in the direction parallel to the plane (P) of torsion of the core, the brush according to the invention has two wide and flat surfaces.

The side located in the hollow of the brush is very close by its shape to the contour of the eyelashes. In addition, it has long bristles and therefore very flexible and these bristles converge. he can so take care of the eyelashes over the entire width of the eyelid, lengthen them and bend. This comb having a high density of hairs, it promotes the bending of the eyelash. The opposite side also forms a comb but less dense, more airy, because its hairs diverge. This second side can therefore more easily comb the eyelashes and spread the product. over their entire length. The two sides are narrow with respect to the faces of the brush. They can therefore penetrate the eyelashes to separate them over their entire length.

The distance between the two faces being smaller than the width of the brush, the latter can be easily slipped into the corner of the eye to make up the eyelashes, without smearing around the corner of the eye.

The two sides of the brush, which have shorter bristles, and therefore less flexible, that the sides, and which are wider, allow to apply the product on the eyelashes very effectively.

The very accentuated and markedly different characteristics of the faces and sides give this brush a surprising dynamic behavior: when the user rotates the brush between his fingers, the eyelashes are alternately charged and curled then combed with unusual intensity.

Preferably, the core is central with respect to each cross section.

According to a first variant of the invention, it can be provided that the cross section has at least two sides along the longest axis (Z-Z), these sides being substantially parallel to the axis (Z-Z).

According to a second variant of the invention, it can be provided that the cross section has at least two sides along the longest axis (Z-Z), these sides being convex. According to this variant, it can be provided that the sides of the section cross have two ends, the width of the section along the axis (Y-Y), perpendicular to the longest axis (Z-Z), to one of these ends or to these two ends being substantially zero.

Whatever the variant of the invention, it is preferred that the cross section has at least two sides along the axis (Y-Y), axis perpendicular to the axis of greatest length (Z-Z), these sides being convex in shape.

Avantageusement, la section transversale présente une largeur maximale (D) suivant l'axe de plus grande longueur (Z-Z) et une largeur maximale (d) suivant l'axe (Y-Y), D et d vérifiant la relation : D>1,5d Advantageously, the cross section has a maximum width (D) along the axis of greatest length (ZZ) and a maximum width (d) along the axis (YY), D and d verifying the relationship: D> 1.5d

Encore plus préférentiellement, D et d vérifient la relation : D>2d Even more preferably, D and d verify the relation: D> 2d

The greatest length D can vary along the core. In order to accentuate the makeup characteristics described above, brushes are preferred whose surface envelope has a cross section elongated over at least 50% and preferably 75%, of its length.

Advantageously, the brushes according to the invention are provided so that for each cross section, the axis of greatest length and the axis of greatest width are perpendicular.

For greater ease of handling, it is preferably provided that the ends of the core are aligned on the X-X axis.

  • The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a brush as described above, comprising the following steps:
  • (i) make a starting brush comprising a rod defining a main axis (XX), a core comprising first and second ends, the first end being integral with this rod, the core being straight and in alignment with the stem, bristles being implanted radially in this core, the end of the bristles defining an envelope surface of the starting brush,
  • (ii) trimming the bristles of the starting brush so that the envelope surface of the brush has, over at least part of its length, a cross section of elongated shape along an axis of greatest length (ZZ),
  • (iii) impart to the core a main torsion in the plane parallel to the axis of greatest length (ZZ) and passing through the rod.

  • Preferably, in a fourth step:
  • (iv) a secondary torsion is printed at the end of the core which is integral with the rod in order to align the second end of the core on the main axis (XX).
Preferably, steps (i) and (ii) are carried out so that the core is central with respect to the faces of the straight clipped brush.

Preferably, the starting brush is mowed so that the surface envelope has a cross section elongated over at least 50%, and preferably 75% of its length.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, step (iii) is carried out so as to impart to the core a main torsion substantially in an arc.

In addition, the bristles of the brushes according to the invention can be of any kind: bristles different lengths, different diameters or different sections and materials different, hairs with tapered ends, fork or pin head shape, or having undergone any kind of treatment known to those skilled in the art.

It can be provided that the brush according to the invention comprises an alternation of rows of short hairs and long hairs, only long hairs being taken into account to define the brush shell surface. Such a variant of the invention makes it possible to accentuate the loading the eyelash with product by the brush of the invention.

It can also be provided that the starting brush has been ground before undergoing the process according to the invention, so that it comprises long, scattered hairs, which are not not taken into account to define the envelope surface of the starting brush.

The helical winding of the two branches of the metallic wire forming the core can be planned with a step to the right, as is usually expected in the manufacture of makeup brushes, or step left, as taught by demand FR-A-2701198. To make a left-hand brush, the branches of the soul is twisted by turning to the left to form turns which turn in direction of clock around the core when one progresses from the rod towards the end of the brush.

The invention also relates to a makeup device comprising a reservoir for mascara and a mascara applicator as described above.

Due to its special shape, when the brush passes through a wringer, its sides are very well wrung out, while its faces are less wrung out. In particular, the sides and the faces are wrung asymmetrically due to their curvature. This particularity allows the user, using one or other of the faces, to produce a variable make-up in charge and intensity over the entire length of the eyelid.

The flexibility of the hairs and the flexibility of the core can be adjusted so as to promote or to counter the spin of the brush.

In order to better understand the object of the invention, we will describe below, by way of for example, several brushes meeting the characteristics of this invention.

Figures 1, 1A, 2A and 3A are perspective views of brushes that can be used to make a brush according to the invention.

Figures 1B, 2B and 3B are perspective views of brushes respectively according to 1A, 2A and 3A which have been mowed according to step (ii) of the method according to the invention.

Les figures 1C, 2C et 3C sont des coupes suivant les plans IC-IC, IIC-llC et IIIC-IIIC des brosses représentées respectivement sur les figures 1B, 2B et 3B.Figures 1C, 2C and 3C are sections along the IC-IC, IIC-11C and IIIC-IIIC planes of the brushes shown respectively in Figures 1B, 2B and 3B.

Les figures 1D, 2D et 3D sont des vues en perspective de brosses selon l'invention, fabriquées suivant le procédé selon l'invention, respectivement à partir des brosses représentées sur les figures 1A, 2A et 3A.FIGS. 1D, 2D and 3D are perspective views of brushes according to the invention, manufactured according to the method according to the invention, respectively from brushes shown in Figures 1A, 2A and 3A.

Figure 4 is a sectional view of a device for making up the eyes.

The brush 100 shown in Figures 1 and 1A has a straight rod 101 defining a main axis X-X. At the end 101.1 of this rod 101 is fixed, by press fitting, a relatively flexible core 102, defining the length of the brush, this soul (which we have represented in these figures although it is inside the brush) elongated, formed by helically winding two branches of a wire 103 which was folded into a U before the branches were twisted. The axis of the soul 102 coincides with the main axis X-X. Bristles 104 are implanted radially between the branches of the wire 103. When the branches of the wire 103 are twisted, the hairs are tightened and held between the helical turns of the core 102. The ends of the bristles 104 define the surface 105 of the brush: it is a convex surface of revolution which has the shaped like a rugby ball and the ends of which consist of two sections straight: disc 106.a, center 108.a and disc 106.b center 108.b.

Using a clipper, two substantially flat parallel faces are cut from the brush of FIG. 1A over almost the entire length (measured along the axis XX) of the brush. In FIG. 1A is shown the intersection (γ 1 ) of the surface 105 of the brush with the mowing plane. This gives a clipped brush shown in Figures 1B and 1C.

For the elements of FIGS. 1B and 1C common with FIG. 1A, the references of Figures 1B and 1C are the same as those in Figure 1A increased by 10.

La courbe 115c est symétrique par rapport aux axes de plus grande longueur Z-Z et de plus grande largeur Y-Y.The brush shown in FIGS. 1B and 1C has two faces 119 parallel between them and parallel to the X-X axis. These two faces are equidistant from the core 112. The distance between the two faces is d. The two faces are connected by rounded edges 120. On the area where the faces 119 were cut, the sections of the following brush a plane perpendicular to X-X consist of curves 115c, represented on the Figure 1C, substantially rectangular, of great length D along the axis of plus greater length Z-Z and greater width d measured along the axis of greater width Y-Y with D> 1.5d. The two faces do not extend to the ends 117a and 117b of the brush. At these ends, the sections 116a, 116b of the brush are circular. The curve 115c is symmetrical with respect to the axes of greater length Z-Z and wider Y-Y.

The core is printed 112, using an appropriate tool, for example by pressing it longitudinally around a metal cylinder, a first twist in the plane parallel to faces 119, between sections 116.a and 116.b, so that the core has a forms substantially in an arc, then a second twist, in the same plane, between the end 111.1 of the rod and the center 118.a of the end section of the brush, so as to align the center 118.b of the other end of the brush on the main axis X-X like the first end 118.a.

By this operation, a brush 120 according to the invention shown in the figure is obtained. 1D. In this figure, the references assigned to elements similar to those of Figures 1 B and 1 C are those of Figures 1B and 1 C increased by 10.

The brush of Figure 1D has substantially the shape of a sickle; the core 122 describes a curve C 1 , substantially in an arc. However, its ends 128.a and 128.b are aligned on the main axis XX. The brush has two faces 129a, 129b. These two faces are connected by rounded edges 120. The surface 125 of the brush is generated by a series of curves 115c, as shown in FIG. 1C, evolving along the core 122; these curves are substantially rectangular, with axes of greater length (ZZ) parallel to each other. At its ends 127a, 127b, the brush is generated by circular curves.

Using a clipper, cut two rounded, intersecting faces from the brush. FIG. 2A over the entire length (measured along the axis X-X) of the brush. We get a mowed brush shown in Figures 2B and 2C.

For the elements of FIGS. 2B and 2C common with FIG. 2A, the references of Figures 2B and 2C are the same as those in Figure 2A increased by 10.

These two faces are symmetrical with respect to the web 212. The distance between the vertices of the two faces is d. d is substantially constant from one end of the brush to another. The two faces are connected by edges 220 ending in edges 220a. The sections of the brush in a plane perpendicular to X-X are consisting of curves 215c, shown in Figure 2C, having substantially the shape with one eye, of great length D along the axis of greatest length Z-Z and more large width d measured along the axis of greatest width Y-Y. D has been growing for a first end 216b to a second end 216a with D> 2d on the curve 215c shown in Figure 2C. The two mowed faces extend to the sections ends 216a and 216b of the brush. Curve 215c is symmetrical with respect to axes of greater length Z-Z and greater width Y-Y.

The core is printed 212, using an appropriate tool, for example by pressing it longitudinally around a metal cylinder, a first twist in the plane parallel to axis Z-Z and passing through rod 211, between sections 216.a and 216.b, such so that the soul has a shape substantially in an arc, then a second twist, in the same plane, between the end 211.1 of the rod and the center 218.a of the section end of the brush, so as to align the center 218.b of the other end of the brush on the main axis X-X like the first end 218.a.

By this operation, a brush 200 according to the invention shown in the figure is obtained. 2D. In this figure, the references assigned to elements similar to those of Figures 2B and 2C are those of Figures 2B and 2C increased by 10.

The brush of Figure 2D has substantially the shape of a sickle; the core 222 describes a curve C 2 , substantially in an arc. However, its ends 228.a and 228.b are aligned on the main axis XX. The surface 225 of the brush comprises two faces 229a, 229b. These two faces are connected by two substantially circular edges 230a, 230b. The surface 225 of the brush is generated by a series of curves 215c, as shown in FIG. 2C, evolving along the core 222; these curves have substantially the shape of an eye, of axes of greater length (ZZ) parallel to each other.

For the elements of Figure 3A common with Figure 1A, the references assigned to elements similar to those of FIG. 1A are those of FIG. 1A increased of 200.

Using a clipper, two rounded, intersecting faces are cut from the brush of FIG. 3A over the entire length (measured along the axis XX) of the brush along the curve (γ 3 ). This gives a clipped brush shown in Figures 3B and 3C.

For the elements of FIGS. 3B and 3C common with FIG. 3A, the references of Figures 3B and 3C are the same as those in Figure 3A increased by 10.

These two faces are symmetrical with respect to the plane passing through the core 312 and including the longest axis Z-Z. The distance between the vertices of the two faces is d. d is substantially constant from one end of the brush to the other. The two faces are connected by edges: 320a rounded and 320b at the edge. The sections of the brush along a plane perpendicular to X-X consist of curves 315c, shown in Figure 3C, having substantially the shape of a drop, of large length D along the axis of greatest length Z-Z and greatest width d measured along the axis of greatest width Y-Y. The largest width d is not central with respect to the greatest length D. D is constant along the axis of the core with D> 2d on the curve 315c represented in FIG. 3C. Both sides trimmed extend to the end sections 316a and 316b of the brush. The curve 315c is symmetrical with respect to the axis of greatest length Z-Z but not by relative to the axis of greatest width Y-Y.

The core is printed 312, using an appropriate tool, for example by pressing it longitudinally around a metal cylinder, a first twist in the plane parallel to axis Z-Z and passing through rod 311, between sections 316.a and 316.b, such so that the soul has a shape substantially in an arc, then a second twist, in the same plane, between the end 311.1 of the rod and the center 318.a of the section end of the brush, so as to align the center 318.b of the other end of the brush on the main axis X-X like the first end 318.a.

By this operation, a brush 300 according to the invention shown in the figure is obtained. 3D. In this figure, the references assigned to elements similar to those of Figures 3B and 3C are those of Figures 3B and 3C increased by 10.

The brush of Figure 3D has substantially the shape of a sickle; the core 322 describes a curve C 3 , substantially in an arc. However, its ends 328.a and 228.b are aligned on the main axis XX. The surface 325 of the brush comprises two faces 329. These two faces are connected by an edge 330b and a rounded edge 330a, substantially circular. The surface 325 of the brush is generated by a series of curves 315c, as shown in FIG. 3C, evolving along the core 322; these curves have substantially the shape of a drop, of axes of greater length (ZZ) parallel to each other and parallel to the plane of curvature.

In the three embodiments of the invention described above, starting brushes in the shape of a rugby ball and a truncated shape, but we can also use a starting brush having a shape chosen from: a cylinder, a double cone assembled by the bases of the two cones of identical size, a fish as described for example in the French patent application published under the number FR-A-2730910, a peanut, a shell, a tear.

L'obturation étanche du réservoir 420 est obtenue en vissant le moyen de préhension 423 sur le goulot 424 du réservoir muni de son joint 425.The device for making up the eyes shown in FIG. 4 comprises a cylindrical tank 420, which has a threaded neck 424, surmounted by a seal seal 425 and which is filled with a mascara 415. The reservoir 420 has in its neck of a wiper 421, maintaining the wiper in position in the neck being ensured thanks to a bead 426 which cooperates with the shoulder separating the neck from the reservoir 420 proper. The wiper 421 is made, in a known manner, of a material flexible and elastic. An applicator is intended to cooperate with the reservoir 420. This applicator consists of a gripping means 423 which supports the member application 430, comprising a rod 422 and an application member 401, identical to those shown in Figures 1D or 2D. The gripping means 423 has the form of a cap and has a thread 423a which cooperates with the thread 424a of the neck of the tank. The sealed closure of the reservoir 420 is obtained by screwing the means of gripping 423 on the neck 424 of the tank provided with its seal 425.

When the applicator member 430 is extracted from the reservoir, the applicator member having the shape of a brush loaded with mascara passes through the wringer 421. It wrings the bristles of the back of the brush more prominently than the bristles of the hollow of the brush. The bristles on the sides of the brush are very wrung out.

When applied to the eyelashes, the brush loads the eyelashes with product from both sides, then she spreads the product, lengthens and curls the eyelash by its back and hollow faces, it comb by its sides. The hairs on the sides being very long compared to the rest of the hairs of the brush, the bristles of the hollow of the brush having a shape capable of marrying the contour of the eyelid and the comb being thin, the eyelashes are very well taken in charge during combing which is very effective.

Compared to the generally convex brushes known from the prior art, the brush according to the invention offers the advantage of being very easy to use, of making up all of the eyelid hairs without burrs, to allow a very elongated, very curled makeup and very separate.
