Abstract
The invention relates to a method for obtaining a three-dimensional, high-definition, high-quality design, which can be assimilated into a well-defined embroidery, recreating different heights or reliefs in this design from a first screen printed flocked material (of Flock type) and a second heat sealed glossy polyester material, commonly known in the art as satin, both free of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This method enables a design to be obtained that is easy to apply using transfer by heat press on the desired fabric or substrate, for example on fabrics or fiber substrates such as polyester, cotton, Lycra®, polyamides, etc .. The designs thus obtained are not limited as to their shapes, colors or sizes, being thus possible to obtain designs of shields, logos, emblems, text, etc.
Description
Method for obtaining a three-dimensional design by heat transfer press on material and material thus obtained
The present invention relates to a method for obtaining a three-dimensional design by heat transfer on a fabric or substrate, the method being particularly applicable in the textile industry, especially in the textile sector of sports, work clothes, and fashion as well as the material obtained by said method.
More specifically, the invention relates to a method for obtaining a high-definition, high-quality three-dimensional design, which can be assimilated into a well-defined embroidery and which recreates different heights or reliefs in the said design from an initial flocked material (of Flock type) that is silkscreened and a second satin thermo-adhesive, or heat sealable, polyester material, typically known in the art as satin, both being free of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This method allows a high-definition three-dimensional relief design to be obtained, which can be easily applied by heat transfer press on the desired fabric or substrate, e.g. on fabrics or substrates such as polyester fibers, cotton, Lycra®, polyamides, etc.. The designs obtained by this method are not limited to certain shapes, colors or sizes, making it thus applicable to shield designs, logos, emblems, text, etc.
In this regard, flocking essentially consists of the application of fine fibers, in the presence of an electrostatic field, to an adhesive coated substrate. Flocking allows a substrate with a comprehensive coverage of fibers and gives it a velvety texture. On the other hand, satin is a fabric made of heat sealable polyester with satin effects, which can have different textures: smooth glossy, smooth matte or glossy embroidered effect.
The method of the invention therefore permits the combination of the features of both materials, i.e. the glossy effect of the fabric produced by the satin and the relief effect facilitated by the flock, allowing a well-defined three-dimensional effect to be obtained for the desired design. EP 0329 767 Bl, "Plush textured multicolored flock transfer and method for making same using precolored flock", describes a method to obtain a multi-colored three-dimensional flock transfer based on the use of fibers of the longest possible length in the flocking material. W02004101174, "Method for forming relief image and pattern formed by that method" describes the obtaining of a relief pattern by the application of layers of metal powder in a solvent on the substrate, regulating the effect achieved by controlling the content of solids in said layers.
The method of the invention allows a three-dimensional effect to be obtained easily without the need to apply different flocking materials with a variety of fiber lengths or the use of additional materials, such as metal powders, as reflected in the current state of the art.
Thus, one aim of the invention is a method for obtaining a three-dimensional, high-definition, high-quality design, which facilitates the recreation of different heights or reliefs in the said design from a first flocked material (of Flock type) and a second screen-printed satin polyester heat sealable material, commonly known in the technical sector as satin, both being free of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
To do this, once the model to be reproduced in relief has been designed and it has been decided which parts or motifs thereof are to be in relief, and which are not the method of the invention comprises the following steps: i) silkscreen print the motifs to be developed in this first material on a first flocking material of uniform and constant length, starting from silkscreened transparent polyester films, leaving the parts or motifs that are not made in this first material empty, one pattern color at a time and with a drying period in aeration booths between each color; ii) apply an adhesive by screen printing on the motifs obtained and dry, followed by manual application of heat sealable polyester granulate on said adhesive, and then gel the adhesive and the powder in order to melt both, then dry and brush to remove any unadhered dust; iii) transfer the motifs to be developed in the second satin material, pre-printed on sublimation paper by heat press, to the second satin material, and cut the motifs obtained in this second material; and iv) combine the motifs obtained in both materials, manually placing the motifs obtained in satin over the gaps obtained in the flock and fix both materials by heat press.
Finally, the method allows a three-dimensional design to be obtained ready for application to the desired fabric or fiber substrate by heat press, preferably 170-175 °C, for 15 seconds under a pressure of 3 bar.
Preferably the drying of the color inks in the first step i) of the method is carried out at 70 °C for 10-12 minutes.
Preferably, in step ii) of the method, the drying of the adhesive takes place at 80 °C for 20 minutes and gelling at 170 °C for 3-4 minutes.
Also preferably, the transfer of the satin motifs, from step iii) of the method, is carried out at 200 °C and for about 20 seconds and, finally, in step iv), the combination of both materials by heat press performed at 130-140 °C for 4-5 seconds and at a pressure of 2-3 bar.
In one embodiment of the method described, the first flocking material used consists of a supporting sheet with non-permanent flocking for the preparation of transferable flocked motifs, which may be monochrome or multi-color. In the first case, this is a monochrome sheet, the preferred height of the fibers of the first flocking material is 0.5 mm, while in the case of multicolor sheets, the height of fibers is preferably 0.3 mm.
In another embodiment, the second material of heat sealable polyester or satin consists of a fabric of white or colored polyester with satin effects and heat sealant capable of withstanding temperatures of over 200 °C.
Example of embodiment of the method of the invention for obtaining the design of a football club shield (fig. 1): A preliminary study of the options and possibilities of design A is carried out, deciding which motifs should be in flock and which in satin, based on the final composition that is desired. For the parts of the design in flock B, the pertinent photolithographs or films are developed on silk screens. Once the colors pertaining to the flock reproduced on the screen are decided, they are printed on the flock with silkscreen printing machines, one color at a time, with aqueous inks, and dried between colors. Finally an adhesive granulate mixture is applied onto the printed colors, which allows the satin motifs to be transported and joined onto the satin motifs and also onto the desired fabric or substrate. The design and / or colors in satin C on a previously developed by sublimation transfer paper and paper printed with the design is transferred by heat press for satin cut on a Fasser machine in a millimeter way piece by piece. Both pieces of satin and flock are joined by heat press. Now all together and configured, the coat can be applied over the tissue or desired support.
