I wouldn't put this into production yet. The broken job canceling breaks the simulation.
I do want to note that with each work refers to its own run
elif slot.work.retries < max_retries:could be turned intoelif slot.work.retries < max_retries and slot.work.run.status != 'cancelled':. So that is an option.
