When submitting the email sign-in form with an empty email field, say for example when removing the 'required' attribute from the input, the error toast would appear empty.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved error messages during email sign-in by displaying email validation errors when no server error is present.

Walkthrough

The error handling in the email sign-in component was updated to display either a server error or, if absent, the first email validation error. This ensures that users receive more specific feedback when authentication fails due to email input issues.

Changes

File Change Summary
apps/web/ui/auth/login/email-sign-in.tsx Enhanced error handling in the onError callback to display server or email validation error messages.

Poem

A hop and a skip through login's domain,
Now errors are clearer, less cryptic, less plain.
If your email is wrong, the message will show—
Not just server woes, but what you need to know!

32-35: LGTM! The fallback error handling improves user feedback.

The change correctly implements a fallback mechanism that displays the first email validation error when no server error is present. This aligns with the codebase's pattern of using toast notifications for server-side validation errors and effectively addresses the issue where empty email submission would show an empty error toast.

The logical OR operation ensures users receive meaningful feedback in both scenarios:

  • Server errors (e.g., network issues, server validation failures)
  • Client-side validation errors (e.g., empty email field)
