Is it reasonable to expect some form of forward compatilbiity? Will a binary compiled with 12080 work on system where 12090 is present insted ? What about 13000?

We happen to start playing with cuda just when 13.0 comes to life and hitting some breakage right now between 12090 and 13000. We are not sure sure if this is something that need attention or just expected limitation.
