I'm a human trying to make sense of the complexity of biology. I like to combine computational and experimental approaches to aid in our understanding of both single microorganisms and microbial communitites.

• 🌱 Previously explored Komagataella phaffii under nutrient-limited growth using genome-scale modelling and RNA-seq, and applied metabolic engineering to improve recombinant protein production.
• 🧪 Currently focused on synthetic community (SynCom) design to unravel microbiome function — with a focus on nitrogen cycling in soil-like conditions.
• 🧫 Creating ecologically grounded test systems.
• 📊 Mining large metagenomic datasets to guide community composition and capture core ecological functions.
• 🎓 PhD in Biotechnology from BOKU IMMB; currently pursuing postdoctoral research in microbial ecology at CEMESS, University of Vienna as part of the CoE Microplanet
