Would it be possible to apt install conda
?
I've installed conda on Linux a few times in the past year:
- This page https://docs.conda.io/projects/conda/en/latest/user-guide/install/linux.html ...
- Takes you to this landingpage https://www.anaconda.com/download/ just to click a button?
- You click download: (a) it starts a download... what is it downloading? what version? I don't know, (b) it brings you to this page https://www.anaconda.com/download-success.
- No instructions about what to do w that 1.2GB
.sh
file. users have to remember to go back to the first page for the rest of the instructions https://docs.conda.io/projects/conda/en/latest/user-guide/install/linux.html
If there was a frictionless apt
package, my takeaway would be "wow, these guys are great at encapsulating software. they get it. maybe i should be using conda cloud."
However, the takeaway I get right now is, "all these hoops just to push marketing? the business people behind conda cloud seem sketch. this is guaranteed to enrage the linux persona"
