We are saddened to announce that Aldebaran, the company behind the Romeo, NAO, Pepper, and Plato robots, is officially shutting down.
Founded in 2005, Aldebaran was a global leader in humanoid robotics, known for its groundbreaking work in human-robot interaction, social robotics, and AI-powered behavior systems. Aldebaran robots have been widely adopted in education, healthcare, and research, with NAO, Pepper, and Plato used in thousands of schools, universities, therapy centers, and public spaces, worldwide.
As consequence, official support and software updates will no longer be available, but we are hopeful Aldebaran’s work can continue with and through investors who have expressed their interest in acquiring the company’s assets and business units.
Until then, the community and existing users of Aldebaran robots can still access tools, documentation, and resources to continue working with these platforms.
