Child Friendly Space and Practices

The initiative aims to reinforce child-centered approaches within justice processes to protect and support child victims/survivors. By ensuring that legal proceedings prioritize the well-being and best interests of children, our effort seeks to create a more supportive and protective criminal justice environment for young victims.

This approach is designed to minimize the trauma associated with legal processes and to ensure that children’s rights and needs are at the forefront of judicial considerations. Through this focused effort, the initiative aspires to enhance the overall justice experience for child victims, ensuring they receive the protection and assistance.

APLE hosted the Annual Child-Friendly Room Monitoring Advocacy Meeting in Battambang, focusing on enhancing child protection in police interviews. Supported by BfdW, the event gathered specialized officers to improve child-centered practices, emphasizing safety and effective evidence collection amid rising exploitation cases.

Sreykev is one of APLE’s content analysts within the Project Arachnid. Every day, she arrives at the office early to begin her important work. She uses a special tool called the Crawler, provided by the Project Arachnid, which scans the internet 24/7 to find images and videos of child abuse. Sreykev spends her day looking at this disturbing content to identify it so it can be removed. This job is very hard on her emotions because she has to see terrible images of children being hurt. But she knows her work is crucial to protect these children.
