HIPAA compliant messaging refers to transmitting and receiving text messages containing Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with the applicable requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). 

Customers with a Business Associate Agreement can use Twilio’s HIPAA Eligible Services, to build HIPAA compliant  text messaging in accordance with Architecting for HIPAA and HIPAA to keep patients’ protected health information secure and private.
