  • During Wrexham AFC's inaugural pre-season 'Down Under Tour', we joined forces with Visit Wales to host key Australian media, travel trade and diplomacy partners. As Wrexham AFC went head-to-head with Sydney FC, guests enjoyed experiencing a pop-up of The Turf pub – as featured in Disney+’s ‘Welcome to Wrexham’. Guests heard the latest destination updates from VisitBritain Australia and New Zealand team, and from Craig Goodwin, Head of Cymru Wales Brand, who shared more details on the inspiring Wrexham story and highlighted the latest tourism news from Wales.   📽️ Starring GREAT Britain, our screen tourism campaign, uses British film and TV to inspire visits to Britain today. 64% of Australian visitors surveyed stating film and TV influenced their decision to visit destinations outside London.    ⚽ Football tourism is a known motivator for travel, inspiring visits across the nations and regions. Overseas visitors who attend football matches as part of their trip to the UK spend circa £1.4 billion annually in UK, 4% of all spend. Edward Kitt, Paul Gauger, Kristen Angus, Amelia Robertson

  • Working with Italian travel industry, we’re ensuring travel agents have the latest knowledge to sell Britain to their customers and drive visits from Italy to lesser-known regions of the UK. With almost a third of Italians booking a holiday via a travel agency, engaging with frontline travel trade is a key strategy to drive visits and broaden travel itineraries in this market.   Joining forces with Italian Tour operator NAAR, our Italy Travel Trade Manager Simona Blandi showcased the latest tourism information and product news to travel agents in Northern Italy. NAAR have developed two new itineraries inspired by Britain’s rich literary history – “The England of Jane Austen and “The places of English Literature”, inspiring visitors to explore regions and destinations seen on the page and on screen, such as Northumberland and Bath". Our screen tourism campaign #StarringGREATBritain uses much-loved British film and TV as the hook to inspire visits to - and across - Britain today.

This successful collaboration with NAAR TOUR OPERATOR S.P.A. is now coming to an end with this wonderful evening in Turin where 25 selected travel agencies attended our trade presentation at Smith's British Restaurant. Another great opportunity to promote the destination, the different regions and their beauties, our SGB and VBShop campaign together with the new itineraries that NAAR has developed for this season dedicated to Jane Austen and English Literature. Thanks to Gaia Crespi, Valentina Bosco, paola costa for the excellent organisation and support. I look forward to working with you again!!! • Britain's sport offer is a proven tourism draw, with sport-loving inbound visitors exploring more of our nations and regions, staying longer and spending more. To celebrate The British & Irish Lions tour in Australia, we joined forces with Tourism Ireland to welcome Australian travel trade partners to showcase the latest tourism news and must-see sporting events coming up. Travel trade, media and industry stakeholders took part in networking, updates and cheering on the Lions as they went head-to-head with the Queensland Reds. #SportTourism #VisitBritain #TravelTrade. • The UK-Germany Treaty on Friendship and Bilateral Cooperation signed today marks an exciting boost for travel and tourism between our countries. The agreement's provisions for direct rail connections and delivering visa-free school group travel will make it even easier for German visitors to discover more of Britain. One of the largest European economies, Germany is the 2nd largest inbound market in value, forecast to be worth £2.2billion to the UK economy. German travellers love to explore across our nations and regions, with almost two thirds of overnight stays taken outside of the capital. And it's not just local businesses and communities that benefit - our research shows that international travellers who have visited Britain are 16% more likely to invest in our products and businesses, driving wider growth across Britain. #UKGermanyTreaty
