The hosts were so friendly and accommodating. I had to reschedule due to illness and they were very understanding. The room was comfortable, the bath was nice at the end of the day, and the breakfast was a treat. It was quiet and I didn’t see too many other people while I was there. They also let me park my motorcycle in their garage and helped me get it out in the morning. Wonderful ryokan, wonderful hosts.

It was very traditional so we had to take off our shoes at the counter when we registered. There were many ppl using the public bath as well and it was usually more crowded at nights than during the day. There were two levels to the onsens and some were smaller than others, some were also outdoor. We loved all the retro stuff with ultraman displays and old game consoles. The arcade area with attached snack/sweet shop was a nice touch. Some games were free to play while some cost 100-200yen per game. The electronic games were only switched on from 5-9pm. There were free bedroom slippers and hair ties etc that we could take near the registration counter. There was a microwave, hot water and laundry area on the second floor. Lots of manga books around, dedicated child play area, table tennis area. Vending machines were great too. Did not manage to explore the restaurant.

A quite onsen resort. Although the location is not good if you don't drive, it is still highly recommended.

I had such an amazing stay at Mimatsuso Ryokan! The ryokan was spotless and well located, and it was so nice to stay in a traditional Japanese house, with a traditional bathroom (with a bath to relax in), a yukata to put on after showering, and a delicious Japanese breakfast! (There are also signs in the ryokan saying that you can try on a kimono for free). The staff were extremely welcoming and made me feel at home. I’m sad I was only here one night but I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m back in Asahikawa!

Great amenities, there were a lot of areas to explore in the Ryokan and it was kept very clean. They have a DDR machine (note the opening hours though) and a manga shelf (which is cool even if we couldn't read Japanese). The futon and chairs are comfortable and the rooms are gorgeous. The onsen has some unique baths, and an outdoor pool area looking out to the city. The staff are very nice, note also they only speak Japanese, and I got the impression this is a stay frequented more by locals than tourists.

This traditional Japanese boarding house/inn is in the middle of Asahikawa, only a few minutes' walk from the train station. By "traditional" I mean you will sleep on a futon on a tatami mat floor and there are no chairs anywhere (floor cushions instead). It's great.

Traditional Japanese tatami rooms with separate lounge room and sleeping room. Toilet and basin on same floor and proper Japanese bathroom with stools, basin and hand shower and soaking bath on the ground level. Welcome drinks on arrival. Rooms were comfortable, cosy and warm. A genuine ryokan experience.
