Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Breakfast at the Restaurant was Poor at best. Our order was all wrong and when I sent it back it was returned with uncooked Eggs. Raw..... I paid and we left never to eat there again.

Walls were a little thin and we had noisy neighbors.
Staff was amazing! Friendly and helpful the only place of 3 that I stayed in DC this year where the bellman helped me with my bags s d always offered me water.. Rooms were clean. Bar was welcoming. Cocktail hour was fun.

Large industrial fan directly outside my room and I seemingly wasn’t allowed to control the climate control in the room.

- The rooms were dimly lit and and like almost all hotel rooms in the US, you have to search around the room for all the many lamp switches to be able to see around. I prefer overhead bright lights with one main switch. - Robes were a nice touch but they were sized for a small person. Any woman over size 14 or a large man is out of luck! -The room smelled faintly of cigarette smoke, even though it is not allowed in the hotel.
Great location for getting around DC. Very friendly staff in the lobby and at the front desk. I was able to borrow a kettle for the room to be able to make tea, from the front desk. Robes provided. Small fridge was handy for your own food and drink,

You can hear all the doors slam. I know that’s a normal hotel issue but still annoying when you’re trying to sleep.
Very clean, it’s colorful and quirky and the staff is super nice.

Very few amenities on site - not the best value for money. Also had some issues at checkout - the staff member gave me incorrect information about the holds on my credit card ($100 extra per night!) which caused unnecessary stress. The info given to me at check in was correct and consistent with my final bill.
Room was spotless, smartly decorated and well-appointed. Great water pressure in the shower. Complimentary cocktail hour was also great!

Our room view was disappointing.
The property was beautifully decorated. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. The room was big and bathroom modern.

The carpet looked very dirty, despite not being dusty. I wish there was more counter space in the room to put my objects. There is a $35 amenity fee which I was not expecting, despite no breakfast being included with this fee.
Kind staff, beautiful decoration. Strong and hot shower, with good amenities in the bathroom. Full control of the bedroom's AC.

Front desk staff Safae was the best. It was a little hectic when I checked in but she was so cool and calm. As we waited patiently to check in she smiled and acknowledged us as we approached the front desk.

The hotel overcharged me from the posted rate on Booking.com. They were not responsive, and it took over a month to get my money back.
Room was great and extremely comfortable. Long walk from Metro Station at DuPont Circle.

For the price, breakfast and parking should be included. Not value for money.
Accomodated us at last minute. Gentleman at reception was lovely and welcoming. Rooms were comfy. Nice decor in lobby and location was good. Noon checkout was appreciated so we could sleep in.
