The hotel is very, very old and the rooms are in serious need of an upgrade

Location, location, location. This hotel is in the center of Avalon, and right across from the little beach, in close proximity to many restaurants.

The staff, to me, is what I like the most. Excellent attitude.

No doubt the building is old but is well maintained, is clean, comfortable, location is great. Breakfast consists of various breads, yogurt, OJ, coffee and tea, and it is more than enough, in my opinion, to keep us excited in the morning. Daniel and Jackie were excellent help to just about everything. I commend their patience, understanding, and I can say that they’re just all out to help guests with anything to make their stay enjoyable and pleasant. All the excellent reviews I read before reserving the rooms are all true. Congratulations hotel MacRae for performing at a level that surpasses what was initially anticipated or required. We will come back again.

The bathroom pipes and air conditioning pipes are loud . You can hear others flush at various hours of the night (iam a light sleeper). Other than that, it's all good . The last night, no neighbor woke in the middle of the night to use the restroom

I really don't want to mention it, because this hotel was charming and romantic and just such a special place. BUT it did advertise a "continental breakfast" which I would say don't bring your appetite to, it was coffee and a few rolls and some tiny apples.

The location is amazing. Our room was facing the water, so we had a view of the ocean which was incredible. Lovely room with a very comfy bed. The location is perfect. Steps away from the sand.

This is the BEST hotel! They have the most excellent location. Close to everything. The rooms are comfortable and their story is charming! Four generations of one family, running the hotel since 1920. Loved it!

Our room shared a wall with the public stairway, we heard everyone else coming and going.

Great, convenient location. Helpful staff. We appreciated that our room was ready early and we could drop our bags off so we could head out for hiking in the afternoon, and that there was a storage area we could store our bags at after our checkout the next morning.

It was a perfect location! We were there for the Catalina 50/50. The staff were so helpful and informative. And the best part was they had a shower on site to use after checked out of room ! Thank you ! I hope to return here next year

Daniel at the desk was great. We checked out very early in the am 5-6 am for a race and stored our baggage at the hotel which was great. Even better, when returning for it in the afternoon after being out on the traiks all day , we were told that there was a place to shower and change in the hotel. Fantastic!
