Nothing really. The only slight downside might be that it’s a bit of a walk to restaurants and the lakeshore, etc. But that also means it’s quiet and peaceful. And it’s only a few minutes’ drive to the main part of town.

The room was large and comfortable with a view of the lake in the distance. It was quiet and had reliable Wi-Fi. Breakfasts were amazing! Staff was friendly. And one of my favorite things was the library common area. It had a fireplace and a constant supply of free drinks and pastries. Plus, they had converted an old confessional into a dumb waiter to send up the baggage. So fun!

Only minor downside was we were woken very early by the sound of breakfast being set-up... The walls are very thin!

An exceptional property in a great location. What a gem! Lots of history, comfy rooms, great shower, delightful library/lounge space for relaxing in the evenings. Very friendly staff. Would stay again!

A very quirky place to stay; an old convent moved to Te Anau and transformed into tourist accommodation in the outskirts of Te Anau. Our room was small but comfortable, with huge bathroom! An excellent breakfast was included. An interesting place to stay

We stayed in the Trsin car at the back of the property. We were looking for a different experience and most definitely it fit the bill.

The log burner hasn’t been cleaned out for a long time and there were lot of nails and hinges etc. inside. The firewood provided had to have many nails removed before using.

We loved all the little treats left for us - plentiful milk and eggs - and the lovely location. The place was quirky with lots of vintage furniture and ephemera. It was a little worn around the edges but comfortable.

it was one of the more expensive properties we stayed at but you got a lot for what you paid.

We loved staying in the old railway carriage that had been kitted out with everything you needed. We also had access to the house and longe where there was free coffee homemade treats and beer and wine. The breakfast was included and very good. We loved the situation near the lake and town.

Breakfast was varied, abundant and delicious. They went out of their way to meet my dietary needs. Common room upstairs was well stocked with snacks. The B&B is an old convent with a wide range of iconography from many religions. Grounds are filled with interesting structures that are also rentable rooms. The manager, Kim, was so helpful and friendly. Really delightful place to stay.

The manager was very helpful and called several other tour companies when our tour to Doubtful Sound was canceled. The room was rather small but a second floor sitting room and outdoor seating offered alternative places to relax. Breakfast offerings were extensive and very good.

We stayed at Mararoa Lodge, in the grounds. It was a wonderful old cottage full of quirky, retro furniture - really fun and we loved it! Quiet, very comfortable, and lots of provisions for a good breakfast. Easy walk into town. Thank you Kym and team for a great stay 😀

We didn’t have a car so was about 20 min walk from bus stop, and there is no taxi’s or uber. So best to drive.

The property was beautiful. An old convent it had a real old school charm. The hospitality was second to none. You really don’t receive hospitality of that level very often anymore. They went out of their way. Giving us a lift, letting us spend time in the library after check out. Fudge biscuits, tea, coffee, beer and wine on offer in the library for all.
