Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing at all we didn’t like. It’s worth noting that the bathrooms are shared but as long as you know that beforehand, it’s all good.
Lovely traditional Icelandic property. It feels like living a bit of history. Flateyri is such a beautiful place and the old bookstore so iconic that it was a privilege to stay here. Super comfortable bed and a very helpful and responsive host. We loved it!

United StatesThe house is old...we loved the idea staying in a house built in 1889, but the walls are thin.
It was self service breakfast - the fridge was stocked with styr, cheese, ham, jam and breads. Fabulous spread and we enjoyed the flexibility to have all these good things in the fridge.

United StatesFascinating B&B in the picturesque and welcoming town of Flateyri! Spent extra time just taking in all the little details of the room, kitchen, and sitting area -- it is like a time capsule of life in the Westfjords 50+ years ago. We enjoyed chatting with Eyðor the following morning and perusing the bookstore, and I would recommend this stay for anyone visiting Flateyri.

United StatesThis place is adorable and the proprietor is very proud of his family's heritage here and he'll tell you all about it if you visit him in the book store downstairs. And you should because it's a really cool shop.

United KingdomNothing I can think of. Just be mindful that in the winter, nothing is open after 6 o’clock. Having said that, it’s only a 15 minute drive to Ísafjörður if you need a restaurant, supermarket, petrol et cetera.
A very quaint and sensitively restored property housing the oldest continuously operating bookshop in Iceland with a suite of three rooms above sharing breakfast and bathroom facilities. Stuffed with antiques and a completely authentic 1960s or maybe 50s kitchen. The refrigerator is loaded with excellent quality breakfast goodies that you can help yourself to. The staff are simply wonderful. You must visit the bookshop on your visit, it is one of the most stylish and thoughtful shops in Iceland, possibly Europe.

United StatesCouldn't have asked for a better stay!
The house itself is so charming and well kept-- not to mentioned how incredible the shop downstairs is. The town is remote but not a far drive from the busier Ísafjörður. Still, you cannot beat the views here. The staff was so incredibly welcoming -- and touches like the chocolate in the room, the well-stocked kitchen, the comfortable common areas, made for such a nice stay.

SwitzerlandUnique accommodation with a lot of charm. Reminded me a lot of my grandmother's flat. Self-catering breakfast with a good selection. Rooms and beds were comfortable. The village is also charming. Definitely the better choice to sleep here rather than in overcrowded Isafjordur.

Czech RepublicWe found it nice to call the owner for check-in as it matched the antique style of the house. However, some might get information on chek-in beforehand.
This is a hidden gem in heart of Flateyri. We spent there a romantic New Years Eve and we were more than amazed by this beautful experience. It is a family run bookstore/accommodation business for decades with nicely preserved antique interior. Host gave us a quick tour in the building. Kitchen was full of kitchenware, spices, sweets and food for breakfast. Lots of books, boardgames, guitar to play and so on. This is one of 2 best places in Vestfirdir for a romantic stay.

This is a place with "soul". You can recognize right away how much love for details and work the owners put into it. It is just so cosy that you do not want to leave again. We also got a very warm welcome from Ágústa, who was so helpful. I can highly recommend this place.
