Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe chairs in the entrance need to be thrown out because of the awful smell, despite the comfort, that oozed out of the fabric. It also took a while to get a taxi but one eventually came so I can't blame that on the hotel, but I think it had to do with the location. The sitting arrangement in the room could be better.
The "owner" was very hospitable and fixed me breakfast which was really excellent, with the home made touch of Mama's cooking. I really enjoyed it. The room was very small with no where to really relax except on the thin mattress on the bed which I found surprisingly comfortable for sleeping. The tv did not work but the toilet flushed well and the room was overall very clean which I greatly appreciated. The place seemed more like a guest house than a hotel; it is good if you just want a place to sleep. The "owner" has to open the gate for you to access the premises so you feel restricted to wander in and out. The area is quiet and not a tourist attraction, so to me it is a nice place to get some sleep if you are on a low cost budget. I will definitely stay there again when I just need a good night's sleep while in Georgetown.

United KingdomDistance from town, accessibility to restaurants/bars/cafe/things to do.
Stayed at the Durban for 7nights. Overall, this would be considered more of a guest house than a hotel. Staff were lovely - especially Juliet. The decor was in need of some TLC & the bathrooms had issues with taps falling off and the toilet not flushing. The pictures on website look nothing like the actual establishment! A little noisy/residential - sirens, loud music at all hrs, dogs barking, chickens & Cockerell giving it some - so rustic, to say the least. An eyesore of a property across the road. However, if you just want somewhere clean to put your head down & use as a base & you don't mind taking a taxi everywhere....then this is a decent spot.

The breakfast was tasty and just enough on the day that we got it. The first day they were running late but we were given a small compensation by management.

United KingdomLittle choice of breakfast menu. No lift, too many stairs to 3rd floor for breakfast. Cleaning was irregular. Had to request clean towels and to have the room cleaned. Poor security, no intercom. Dispute with Manager regarding additional charges. Eventually reached a satisfactory outcome. Cockroaches, bees and wasps caused some anxiety.
Manager was welcoming and helpful, carrying luggage up the stairs, sourcing taxis and welcoming our many visitors. Staff on duty at breakfast responded well to our requests for traditional Guyanese types of foods. Staff were polite and responsive when requests were made. Rooms were comfortable. Location of hotel was convenient for travelling around Georgetown and for the many excursions we made. Reception areas were clean and well decorated with comfortable armchairs and artificial flower displays.

Trinidad and Tobagowasn’t my cup of tea. additionally, I requested a taxi to pick me up from the airport and had to wait over an hour because he was late and ended up being alone in the airport. this was very upsetting because when I arrived and they told me he would be late I asked if I could cancel and get refunded I could simply take a taxi from the airport and I was told no! so I had to sit and wait on the steps by myself because there’s no seating at Cheddi Jagan. further that send me a whole speak about me hving to pay 3$ for every hour I had to taxi waiting. if I kept the taxi waiting that would have been out of my control (flight delays/ immigration/customs) however him coming late is well within his control.
it was functional

United KingdomThe breakfast, from the length of time it’s on (08:00-10:00) to the quality on offer, not a happy experience for any of the three times. It says ‘breakfast included’ on the booking but that is their most basic of options. I recommend you eat out. It’s really a place for the solo traveller who isn’t looking for much, definitely not for young families, though as I said…they were friendly to my child but the hotel is not built for children at all. And no cot available…bar/games room closed (it’s listed they have them)
The staff on the whole were great, so helpful and whatever we needed as a family was taken care of as best they could.
