Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The Hotel staff were exceptional and could not do enough for us. My husband is recovering from a stroke and they were so kind and helpful and always greeted us with a smile and hello. The team at Breakfast were brilliant. Breakfast was great with lots of variety and set us up for the day. Pool was lovely although it would be helpful if there was an easier way to cross the road which was at times quite busy. Had a lovely view across the Gibraltar’s Port of Spain and Morocco and enjoyed seeing spectacular Sunsets.

United KingdomOne thing I felt about the hotel was the staff were lovely but they were very disorganised. In an effort to be helpful, they ended up being unhelpful. In the restaurant if you requested something it either came very quickly or extremely slowly not the perfect in between delivery. They just need to have specific jobs and tasks not try to do everything.
The restaurant area was ideal having extensive views across the bay.

United KingdomThe hotel decor looks a bit tired. My wife also had a drink of lager spilt over her by one of the bar staff. There wasn’t anyone other than the girl that spilt the drink said sorry. That should have come from management. Look after your customers and they will return.
View was fantastic. The receptionist was so friendly and very helpful with everything. The room was okay.

SpainFood and drinks were a lot more expensive this year. Overall the Rock experience requires more money than previously. We have been coming to The Rock during Summer and often in the autumn months for over 20 years. This Summer has been nearly unaffordable for us.
The staff are always friendly and professional. The pool is gorgeous.

SpainUnfortunately, our shower 🚿 flooded, and water spilt all over the bathroom. We called reception and asked for it to be cleaned up. Towels were given, and we had to clean it ourselves. We would have preferred if they had cleaned it for us. Especially as it was our wedding day.
The staff location and view from the terrace were amazing. As a married couple, we were given lunch on a private terrace, which was such a surprise for us. This really is an ideal place to have a wedding lunch. We stayed overnight in a superb room with idealic views across Gibraltar 🇬🇮 bay.

United KingdomWe have stayed at The Rock Hotel several times & always had a good experience. The staff are so professional & helpful. The bar, terrace and lounge areas are all very comfortable with wonderful views. The added bonus is the pool, especially when the weather is hot, as is a room with a balcony.

United KingdomThe only downside were the smokers. Sitting outside on the restaurant terrace to eat could be a bit unpleasent. We thought the smoking area should be situated well away from the restaurant.
Lovely staff. The view from our comfortable room lovely too. The hotel is expensive but we knew that when we booked so no suprises with the bill. The location is great but it is quite a walk up the hill from the town so those less mobile might find it a challenge. The restaurant served good food and the hotel is also within walking distance of great waterside restaurants. Again the walk a bit steep. The cable car station for a ride to the top is close and the botanic gardens (free) just below the hotel. The Rock also has a lovely big swimming pool and grounds just accross the road.

United KingdomThe hotel was ok, it just didn't meet the expectations I have for a 4* hotel. The wardrobe was tucked into a corner of the room a the door, meaning that you could only easily access one half of it - not a big deal but there was a big space next to it - so why put it there in the first place. The bathroom was ok but it had a bath with a shower over it, very odd to still see this outside real budget hotels. My main gripe was that the shower only had a fixed holder so I couldn't adjust the height of it, the bath was slippery but there was no shower mat, and there was no handrail for getting in/out. The pool area was nice, odd to have it across a busy road with no crossing facility but ok, however by afternoon the water was like a fly graveyard. Maybe someone with a net could do a regular clean up, or just improve the pool filtration system. I don't think I'd come back here.
Location was ok, my room (seaview) was average, Good to be near the cable car stop, and there was a good bus service for getting into town.

United KingdomStaff seemed a little harassed and disorganised, I have stayed at the Rock on four previous occasions and this time I felt things were not running as smoothly as in the past. It may have just been particularly busy but it was very apparent in the bar.
The room was great, comfortable with a superb view over the harbour and two large balconies. Beds were comfortable, and bathroom and shower was large and well appointed.
