It didn't affect us but if you'd want an early night, being above a pub isn't ideal.

The size of the rooms are very generous for the cost.

The only thing that spoilt the stay was the parking availability. It is a shame the hotel does not have any reserved parking spaces. As a new visitor to Winchester, I found it quite stressful after travelling to then have to find the correct entrance to the pub so I could be facilitated to park (I was flummoxed at the time as there were no permit spaces available or even legal road spaces to park) - it is a one way system which is probably very easy to navigate when you live there but if you also arrive in the dark it is quite daunting as the roads are just not well lit. I had to drive around a few times until eventually a space became available in the 'designated permit holders spaces' (ie somebody drove out of the space). These were then only a short walk from the hotel but if I couldn't have eventually found a permit holder space it would have been very disappointing to have to travel - albeit not a massive distance, to use the multistorey car park. The parking alone would put me off staying there again yet it is one of the best rooms I've stayed in.

The room was lovely ... a really comfortable night. Nespresso machine, fridge, complimentary toilettries, bottled water, gowns and slippers..lovely big shower cubicle, nice furniture . Breakfast was divine and with the added touch of being able to have breakfast in your room without an additional charge just topped it off .. thank you! I wish many other hotels would follow suit, it just added to that relaxing experience without having to get up unnecessarily early and go to a dining room to eat especially as the breakfast was so good. The evening meal in the restaurant had good options and was also very good quality.. obviously a very busy and popular venue with the locals. Location v good - near to Cathedral and town centre. Quirky and great atmosphere. Staff were helpful and attentive despite them being really busy.

Nothing really - our room was on the top floor so 2 flights of stairs, slightly wonky ones as original stair case from 17th Century. Just to be aware if you have mobility needs.

Lovely character-filled property, fantastic location close to the cathedral and town centre. Food options really good, and staff super helpful and accommodating to some weird dietary needs I have currently.

Such a beautiful stay! The inn is gorgeous, we stayed in the two-bed family apartment over the road and it just couldn't have been better. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic as well. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Obviously out of anyone's control were late night noisy people at 4am outside in the street. The mattresses in the twin room either need toppers or need replacing they were uncomfortable.

Great location right in the centre of Winchester. The staff were so helpful with parking instructions when I arrived after a long journey. We stayed in the annex which had its' own kitchen and sitting room.

The location of the pub could not have been better, we knew we had a central place to stay, however, we hadn’t realised that we were bang in the centre of Winchester with a few steps to the cathedral. From the minute we arrived, the staff were pleasant and attentive. The room was spacious and well appointed, with excellent facilities within the room, including fresh milk and complementary water and juices.

Decor was a bit dated, but the extra friendly service from staff and clean facilities and comfortable bedding made up for it.

Beds and linens were soft and cozy. Location was perfect. Walking distance to my daughters university and stones throw from Winchester Cathedral.
