Parking was a problem as the permit parking was hit and miss…we had to park in a multi-storey long stay park 8 mins walk

Beautiful property and our room was really nice, well appointed and clean

There was too much furniture in the room. 4 chairs for 2 people and just got in the way. The glass storage unit in the bathroom was slightly unstable and in the way. The room was very hot. A fan was provided but as the vines outside covered the windows there wasn’t much airflow The period bed had a footboard, which is not good for a tall person.

Lovely pub with room directly opposite the Cathedral. Very central. We had a room at the front. Good food in the restaurant. The room was full of character the floor was sloping The mini bar with soft drinks was a nice touch Breakfast brought to your room was a lovely touch.

Quite a jump in price from our visit in December last year .

Lovely place we have stayed here a few times when visiting Winchester. The location is absolutely excellent for nearby attractions, Cathedral,. shopping etc. The staff at The Old Vine are extremely helpful and accommodating and the food is exceptional. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay to anyone visiting Winchester. We're coming back in November for the Christmas Market. Well done everyone.

More pillows (we used all that were available, including the ones in the wardrobe) and a bar of soap would have been nice.

We stayed during a heatwave and were thrilled to find our room had a small air conditioner. It was a godsend! We would have had to change hotels otherwise. The service and breakfast were lovely. We appreciated the chilled water and juice. Parking was much less of a hassle than we expected.

Breakfast left us underwhelmed - undercooked sausage and overcooked hash browns.

    It was all perfect.

Wonderful food, like the duck confit, sea bass and salmon. Great breakfasts including items like traditional English breakfast and avocado toast. We stayed in the annex which was a unique apartment with a kitchen and laundry. It was very pleasant and a nice place to spend time.

Parking was arranged for us in a private parking box nearby — a bit narrow and tight, but we were very grateful to be able to park so close to the hotel. As you might expect from such a central location, there was some noise from outside early in the evening. However, the hotel had thoughtfully provided earplugs in the bathroom, which helped reduce the sound — and by 11 PM, it was quiet. Not a complaint, just something to be aware of when staying in the city centre.

We stayed for just one night but thoroughly enjoyed both our stay and the beautiful city. The experience was very pleasant — the staff were warm and welcoming, everything was clean and comfortable, and the food was absolutely delicious. Stepping outside, we found ourselves right in the heart of stunning Winchester. The cathedral is just across the street, set on a charming square lined with linden trees. A short stay, but truly memorable

Only one thing, the comfort of the beds. The main bedframe was noisy and the mattress was probably too soft for the type of bedframe. The pillows were too soft for me, a mix of firmness on the bed would be a good idea. The futon bed was noisy.

Fabulous location overlooking a historic courtyard and the Cathedral. Lovely safe vibe. Parking permits and map provided. The breakfast was exceptional, really good produce and cooked perfectly. We had breakfast in our room and this experience elevated our stay. Beautiful room and bathroom. Nice touch adding ear plugs, robes and slippers. Like a home from home. The entire team at the Old Vine were amazing.

Noise does come up from the bar downstairs, but it didn't go late and earplugs are available in the room.

Lots of stairs and uneven floors but what you get in return is priceless! Comfortable, historic rooms lovingly decorated, a great restaurant downstairs and steps from Winchester Cathedral. Greeted by the enthusiastic Bradley who was so helpful with the bags and sorting out parking for us.
