We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

United KingdomI really loved everything about it but getting back to the mainland and having my own, clean shower was definitely appreciated. The water pressure is bad in the showers on the island.
Loved staying at Barefoot Manta. The dorms are surprisingly big inside in the tents and everyone is super respectful of each other’s space and belongings in there (and sleep!!). It was really easy to make friends as a solo traveller too and everyone just banded together during the day and night. The resort set up a table with candles away from the main dining area for someone’s birthday and Mr Tom serenaded us with his guitar, and they provided free prosecco too. Really personal and wonderful experience. Although the food sometimes took some time to come out, it was delicious! The lamb shank especially was a highlight. There’s a hike to see the sunrise but I think it’s better from the beach - quite a few people gather on the beach for it as well. It’s a really lovely ambiance! The staff were all incredibly friendly and made my stay memorable. I would love to come back here!! Personally, I didn’t do the manta trip as I had already seen them in another country a few months ago but during my whole stay, the mantas didn’t appear for anybody. It was a bit of a shame for them but that’s the nature of these trips - seeing them is not guaranteed!

AustraliaOur shower was very bad. We stayed for 4 nights and the shower was cold to look warm on full heat. Last time we stayed at manta the outdoor shower was our favourite. I especially booked this as my husband loves the outdoor shower but it was pretty poor this time. (we asked 4 times for it to be fixed but it was not resolved before we left)
The staff are very helpfull and we always enjoy the marine conservation effort, the reef and fish. The snorkel gear is of reasonable quality and the dive centre looks professional

AustraliaFreeze-dried coffee only, but not unexpected. Wifi in the common area was generally terrible, and with our Digicel SIM card, we barely had mobile reception or data around the resort as the tower on the hill seemed to be pointing the wrong way (it worked okay at the sunset bar, or from halfway up the lookout hill). No aircon in the canvas huts of course, but we went in 'winter' so it wasn't bad with the ceiling fan running. And our hot-water system for the shower only fired up for about one minute then turned off again for the rest of the shower.
Idyllic tropical paradise. Super friendly staff, and plenty of activities each day, and music most nights. The food choices and quality were very good. Reasonable drink choices, though cocktails could take a very long time. The bure hut we had along the sunset beach was great, and reasonably private (though remembering canvas walls only affords so much privacy!) The walk to the three lookouts wasn't that strenuous and gave a nice view of the area. The snorkeling with manta rays was AMAZING. We saw seven of them - lifetime memories right there. Otherwise the snorkeling along the sunrise beach side was okay - a bit choppy and hazy at times (from sediment stirred up), being exposed to the strong tidal flows compared to more sheltered resort reefs (such as Blue Lagoon/Oarsman's). Still enjoyable and lots of variety in coral and fish.

What a magical spot! The snorkeling and mantas, the shady beaches, the truly incredible staff and the cool tents—we adored it all!

Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable and the location was perfect. Couldn’t fault it and wished we could stay for longer!

New ZealandDinner was too late at 7pm and was sometimes cold by the time you received it. Also most of the fish and chicken was overcooked and dry. However, most of the other meals were great so if you choose carefully its fine.
Beautiful coral reefs, tons of tropical fish, manta ray snorkelling, beach front bures, wonderful staff

AustraliaA tough question! Nothing that comes to mind. But you should know the ferry transfers require you to get from a big boat in to a little boat to get to each island, think of it as a train stop and you get in a water taxi! It was not hard to transfer but it’s something to be aware of. We had two medium sized suitcases- the staff from the resort and the crew on the boat manage all the luggage transfers.
If you’re looking for a laid back holiday where the only decisions you want to make are which beach should I snorkel at, what cocktail should I have at happy hour, which of the special tours should I book in to and what should I choose as my meal option- this is the place to be! My 11 year old and I loved it because there was plenty to keep us both entertained ( he played volleyball, participated in the crab race, made friends with a lot of the staff and explored the ocean). The snorkelling here is the best I’ve seen even compared to the 3-4 times I’ve been at the Great Barrier Reef. It is accessible ( straight off the beach) and great for kids of all ages, little fish in the shallows with no ominous waves! We stayed in a burre and woke up to scenic beach views each morning. Ours was closest to the main food hall and very convenient ( Burre 16) but also we were in the middle of sunset beach so closest access to the beach and views ( although nothing is that far!) picture a row of burres in a straight row along a curved shoreline, we were in the middle). The highlights of our trip were 1) the snorkelling 2) the staff ( the Manta family as they call it!) who make you never want to leave! You get 4 meal options for lunch and dinner to choose from - lunch is 1 course/ dinner is 3 courses. The food was great! There is no ala carte menu, so if you’re wanting to try fresh seafood or have particular choices, then this might not work for you. There was always a fish dish on the menu though! There was also “Fiji night” on the Saturday night with music, dancing and a kava ceremony. Plenty of variety for 3-4 days to keep you busy!

This was our first stop on our Yasawa trip and we were blown away, just absolutely magnificent paradisiac place, three beaches, I especially liked that there was one sunrise and one sunset beach to take full advantage of the sun, staff super friendly and accommodated our vegetarian needs, so much fun to be there, nice atmosphere during dinner, very laid back, nice activities with kayak, wonderful waters to swim, just sand and beach and coconut trees, it is an island and there is nothing else, pure nature, we had a blast, want to go back some day

United KingdomThere were far more people here than I'd imagined and it was overall too big and too 'resorty' for me, especially as most of the guests seemed to be very young gap-year types in cliques. That said, it wasn't noisy (when I was there) and those I shared the dorm with were quiet, a bit older and like-minded in terms of priorities. When I was there I was imagining I would like the smaller 'resorts' better. But in hindsight I think this was probably the best quality and best value accommodation I stayed in.
This place is very well-run and efficient. Everything runs so smoothly and the staff go out of their way to make you feel like an individual, remembering your name, somehow, amongst the 100s of guests passing through thier doors. The beds in the female dorm are extremely comfortable with what appears to be new mattresses. The room is spacious, airy and cool, not far from the toilets and showers, which are clean. The snorkelling on the coral 'garden' is some of the most beautiful I've ever seen and we saw a manta within seconds of being in the water. Really unforgettable. Meals are decent, with dietary requirements taken care of. Breakfast, buffet-style, is great. The marine biologists seem knowledgeable. The snorkelling gear is in good condition. The setting is beautiful despite the less-than-perfect weather.

United StatesThe compulsory 3 meals a day for $70 USD were lackluster. I'd much rather eat when and if I want to and pay for that.
Loved the reef on sunrise beach, and the marine biology lectures with the resident biologist!! The manta snorkel was also a lovely bonus. I stayed in the dorms and the rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. The hot showers were fantastic, especially after hours of snorkeling or after a dive. The staff was very friendly.

AustraliaPlease explain that snorkelling with the mantas incurs an additional fee. It's no longer true that the ceremonial drum is beaten to announce the mantas are in the channel, which infers on their website that anyone can then go and swim with them. It is very controlled and numbers are limited. There are good reasons for this so please just explain it so customers don't feel misled.
Food was good with lots of choice; all the staff from restaurant to housekeeping and dive shop were exceptionally helpful and attentive. Great entertainment and activities. Prefect atmosphere for unwinding and connecting with nature. Snorkelling was great. If you're diving, suggest going on Boat Dives in zone 3 as the island dive sites can pretty much be covered in the right tide and weather conditions if you're a competent snorkeller.
