Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaBreakfast not worth the wait. Basic omelet, bread, salad and chease can not takr 1 hour! If they breakfast starts eight, you can expect something to eat at about 9!
They need to sharpen up on their breakfast routine. Breakfast starts at 8 but dont expect to see any staff. Only one staff member in breakfast location and he is the cook too. Had to wait over 45 minutes for a basic omelet and a cup of coffee. No staff to assist him, nobody to clear the tables. Most of the guests just left and got something on their way. Price (and waiting) for breakfast not worth it. Overall nice clean hotel with a good location.

BahrainThe room was renewed and clean, not as like as the pictures but pretty good. The balcony view on the Tahrir Square is nice and noisy because of the cars’ horns. The stuff were very cooperative and friendly. The breakfast was simple and on the building roof.

Hotel and rooms are clean Excellent value for money. The little extra is the rooftop terrace with views of Cairo. The breakfast is hearty and local.

United StatesBreakfast is very basic and you have to wait long until you get something to eat. if they at least add a small buffet which will not take much of an effort from there side while they are giving extra ordinary services in other areas, I am pretty sure this hotel will be on top of people’s list to stay. There was only one boy working to prepare for breakfast and one time there were more than 10 people waiting already, we decided to leave and have breakfast outside.
it is located in Tahreer square not too far from many attractions, like Khan Al Khalili market Hussain mosque, Al Azhar. food choices are plentiful around in walking distance and also local shopping is convenient. The staff is very friendly and helpful all the time, they try to accommodate your needs, they even send someone to exchange my dollars for local currency which was a huge help.

AlgeriaThe hotel is in the fifth floor of a building with an elevator ..it's so clean, so new ..and has a very.good location...the area around is secured ..police cars are there all the time..very good rate quality/price,..just be careful if taxi men starts to make you expect a bad an insecured hotel it's absolutely to bring you for an other hotel and to take a percentage!! That happend to me..but I did not beleive him because I had read comments here before to book..otherwise.. some advices are given next in order to enhance their good service..evenif I really enjoyed my stay... -They can add more towels for a double room. -The floor is new that it could be slippery. An anti slip mat could be necessary. -It will be perfect if they put a kettle in the room... -The Towel Hanger misses in the bathroom, but we can deal with it..

ItalyWell......where to begin ! I realize there is a certain expectation of quality that comes with the Up Town Hotel Cairo. So you expect a nice room, big comfy bed, good view, quality toiletries and a certain level of customer service. Thats what youre paying top dollar for, the the expectation that comes with that. And all of these things were here, just as you would expect When they arranged our tour in ancient Cairo and the pyramids, it was fun and of high value, with a luxury car with a more than wonderful driver. From the beginning, they always take care of you to organize your time well and ideally in Egypt. What you can never assume, or buy, is the personalities of the staff. Sure, they are paid to make your stay a exceptional stay......but deep down in their bones genuine caring kind gorgeous staff. You cant buy this. This just comes naturally to good people......and these people are good people From the moment we arrived Saleh on the Reception desk set the bar high. He was incredibly patient with me as my husband and I fuffed around trying to decide certain things. The front desk was incredibly busy but Matthew made me feel like he had all the time in the world for me. Thank you Saleh. Then our second home became the club lounge and the staff became our family. Kyrillos greeted us every day with a smile and warmth that can not be faked. He had advice for us on what to go and see. He answered our endless questions about everything and I will genuinely miss our daily chats. Thank you Kyrillos. Nurhan helped us with everything we needed to book our train ticket to the next stop and even arranged for someone to go out and buy it for us from the station. Ill I had to do was look at the view and drink champers and Mariz made it all happen.

RussiaThere are a few things that could be improved though: the description is not correct, but the hotel is new so maybe some facilities are not working yet. There are no kettle and hairdryer in the room, but if you ask on reception they will bring it to you. There is no curtain in the shower so the water spills all around. Technically there is no shared kitchen available. Breakfast is slow and the choice is very limited. But I think all that things are not really important as it is a perfect value for money, location is great, hotel is new and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend it to anyone with a small budget.
The staff is amazing. Very friendly and helpful. I think the best staff I ever seen in the hotels so far. Especially the Nourhan! She is so friendly, always smiling and trying to help. My friend’s daughter got sick and asked for a home made chicken soup and Nourhan brought her own pot from her house! for me and helped me to cook a chicken soup on the rooftop kitchen for a kid. It was so kind ☺️ The hotel is new, beds are very comfortable. And the location is great. I think it is the best value for money you can find in the center of Cairo.

VietnamIt was a bit difficult to find the hotel (on the 5th floor of a building). It's better to know in advance that its entrance is next to KFC store. Literally, there is nothing in the room (no welcome water, no kettle, no box of tissue, no hairdryer, no ironing facilities). But you can ask for hairdryer. We had trouble with the hot water in the toilet. The wifi signal was weak.
The location is great. It is at center, just on a side of Tahrir square. It is possible to see the Egyptian Museum from the hotel entrance. The breakfast was good. The stuff were friendly and willing to help. The wifi was strongest at the reception area.
