Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt's cold, and there isn't a pillow. Locker needs to buy locks ourselves, which is unexpected for ppl without experience.
I like the fire pit every night, it gives chance for youth to communicate and make friends. Different ppl with various kinds of background. It's simply the beauty of youthful hearts.

GermanyThe kitchen was too small and you had to wait quite long to have space to cook as lots of people anted to use the small kitchen. It also wasn’t that clean in the kitchen. Due to the sociable nature of the hostel some people stayed up late and it was a little noisy when people were getting in and out of the tents at all times. Earplugs helped and the stay was overall positive, especially considering the hostels affordability and great location!
The hostel was very lively and social, there was a bonfire every night and the breakfast and dinner form the cafeteria were very nice and affordable. The showers and toilets were nice and enough for the amount of people. The lockers were nice and the staff friendly. There was a big and a smaller tent and the beds could be freely chosen.

United KingdomThe men’s toilets / showers could occasionally be a bit dirty however I do understand as people are in and out of there all day and this is an issue of the people staying at the tent rather than the staff or sites fault.
Excellent youth hostel with a lively atmosphere, people from all over the globe from different walks of life. Facilities are as expected and staff couldn’t be better, the food is also priced really well and is cooked from scratch onsite. Sleeping in the tent is almost like being back on a school trip / at summer camp it’s a unique experience to say the least. Everything you could need is onsite including self catering, a shop for essentials, a cafe, toilets and showers, decent beds, lockers and lots of activities including a basketball court and a volley ball court. I will definitely stay here again if I am ever in Munich again.

IrelandThe kitchen is pretty basic but it works fine for simple dishes. The beds weren't very comfortable but we're pretty standard as far as hostels go.
It's very central in the city and easy to get to the hauptbahnhoff from. Right next to nymphenburg and the botanical gardens too. They do a simple breakfast for very cheap and dinner too. The campfire at night is a great way to get chatting to people and it's a very friendly environment to meet other travellers in Munich. The bier is pretty cheap too when you buy bottles.

Czech RepublicI advise you to watch the weather forecast in advance. I spent the night when the temperature at night dropped to 9 degrees. The nice woman at the front desk gave me three blankets. I didn't understand why. But at night I understood why...the three blankets were not enough and I was still cold. I did cover my head, though. So be careful or take warm clothes with you.
I only stayed for a day so I didn't have a chance to get a feel for the atmosphere. But it's a very nice place with nice staff. In the evening the atmosphere is very cozy, they make a fire and light lanterns. The kitchen is fine, the toilets and showers are very clean. The beds...the beds are very uncomfortable but that is the only downside I would stay there again but in warmer weather.

AustraliaThe bunk beds are not accessible for the top because there is no ladder or steps. You need to boost yourself by stepping on the lower bunk and if you are short like me, you need to be agile and athletic to be able to climb up. I did not expect there to be no pillows, but luckily I had one and other things to improvise. I do not recall if this is in the info, but making it clear from the beginning that locks should be brought unless they want to pay.
Amazing atmosphere! Lovely staff and great prices! Really cool facilities, too. It was nice that they offer extra blankets from the get-go and free lockers to use (except no free locks to use for them).

AustraliaThe showers were a bit grim. To be expected but be aware of the shower curtains and the water only runs on for 10 seconds before turning off and you have to constantly press it.
I liked that reception was open 24/7 and staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed staying in the hut which had heating and a comfy bed to stay in also. The cafe they run is relatively cheap too
