Staff were very unfriendly. Room was EUR 380 and very basic. Shower tray leaked everywhere as was broken, no water, coffee or tea were provided in the room even though a nespresso machine was there! Duvet and pillows were synthetic and of poor quality. Breakfast was of a low quality, milk was off, no pastries. Staff at breakfast were great though, very friendly unlike receptionists.

The location was very convenient for the centre of Dortmund and the train station.

We stayed at this so-called "design hotel" for 2 nights. We paid in advance and immediately regretted booking this hotel. Upon arrival, we were told that our room nr 8 was approximately 30 metres next to the hotel parking garage door entrance and outside directly on the footpath. It turned out that it WASN'T even inside the hotel building ! It was a former hairdressing salon that had been converted into "hotel rooms." The "room" wasn't safe to sleep in as there was only a thin window between the room and the street. Despite having a key card to gain entry to the room, anyone standing on the pavement only had to smash the window to gain access inside. The room safe wasn't even working, so valuables (money, passports, house keys, car keys, etc) had to be in your bag at all times whenever leaving to go out. There was also no daylight in the room whatsoever as the window had been darkened to prevent anyone walking past from looking in ! Furthermore, we could hear EVERY noise made on the street, which made sleep virtually impossible...which was people walking past, talking, cars driving down the road, etc. There was also a constant draft in the room as there was a gap between the door and the floor. It was like being in a prison cell. We immediately complained about the situation and unfortunately had to sleep the first night in the "room" as the hotel was fully booked and we had already paid. Breakfast wasn't good, either. Not much choice apart from yoghurts, boiled/scrambled eggs and bread rolls. The hotel lift was extremely slow and rather tiny. It wasn't suited for more than one person carrying a small bag. Sorry.....this hotel won't be getting booked again next time I'm in Dortmund.

1) On the first night, my train got in at 3:45 am and my Google maps was not functioning well I.e. I couldn't find the property. The receptionist was supposed to answer the phone all night long, but I called many times and no one answered. I walked the streets for 25 minutes before I finally found it. The receptionist was sitting there when I arrived and claimed he'd been making breakfast the entire time I'd been calling and thus did not hear the phone. 2) The hotel claims to have an affiliate relationship with a commercial gym which guests can use for a mere 3 Euros. What's not divulged is that the hotel only has one card, which guests will have to give the gym to gain entrance. If someone is using the card already, other guests are out of luck and cannot use the gym for that low price. I was a victim of this scenario. When I asked if I could use the card in a couple of hours when it would likely be returned, the female receptionist coldly said that I could not since I'd already be checked out by then. I said every other hotel I'd ever stayed at had allowed me to use its facilities for the entire day on the day I checked out. This seemed like very stingy behavior. Later, she relented and said I could come back for the key. I tried that but she said the key was in use again so I was out of luck. She did let me leave my luggage behind the counter while I went to a different gym on my own dime and did a little sightseeing in town. When I came back to collect my luggage, I realized that I'd left a credit card at a store a ways away. I asked if I could leave my luggage again for another 45 minutes while I ran back to the store to retrieve my card. She said it was ok with her. I then went to the bathroom to put on some shorts (vs. pants) so I could save time. When I came back to the reception desk, the manager was there and said I needed to get my luggage and leave immediately. Obviously, this little extra favor was not ok with him.

Lots of choices for breakfast. Above average buffet (loved the real honeycomb). New waitress was very kind. She'd been there just a few days. The property was also very nice in refunding my last two days because of a medical issue with my friend that caused me to have to move to a different hotel. The room was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable. Convenient, quiet location near the Bahnhof.

There was nothing not to like.

Friendly and helpful staff, a nice, well sized & eqipped room with a great bathroom. Excellent buffet breakfast, with a very nice person helping the guests. Location very practical for train travellers, only 5min walking from station, but you dont hear the train noise!
