We were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful view from our unit to the Nicoya Peninsula. In the evening we enjoyed sunsets from our veranda. Our room was large, private and had beautiful wooden beams and wooden accents everywhere. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and dinners at the restaurant. It took 10 minutes to drive to the nearest town, Santa Elena, and 30 minutes to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. We have fond memories of our stay and would love to return someday.

While breakfast was very good, fresh and well priced, selections could be expanded when staying three or more nights.

This small boutique property has remarkable, kind and helpful staff, gorgeous individual cabins with beautiful views of the cloud forest. The property has a lovely restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner though not included in the room price. The room has many thoughtful details including live plants, well positioned plugs, coffee and tea in the room and ample place for bags and clothing.

This is a beautiful gem of a hotel. With beautiful views out over the valley, a fabulous and spacious room and unparalleled staff in terms of their willingness to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They really went out of their way to greet us with smiles and a concern for how our birding was going. The owner was on hand to personally greet each guest and seemed genuinely to care about his property and his guests. The on site restaurant was so good, we chose to eat no where else for our 5 day stay. We were there for birding, and the owner arranged a marvellous guide for the 2 days we required. It is a beautiful birding location, and we will be staying there again upon our return to Monteverde.

Road to get there from La Fortuna was an adventure; only paved part of the way and full of potholes. Because of its location it is very windy. Could only sit outside for awhile before feeling like we were going to blow away.

Jose and his staff are wonderful; really make you feel welcome. Property is comprised of individual bungalows with porches all facing the lovely view and sunset. Breakfast is not included but is very reasonably priced for eggs cooked to order, juice, bacon and wonderful fruit. Very convenient to the Cloud Forest and Monteverde shopping and restaurants.

It was super windy when we were so it was difficult to sleep at night due to wind and sound. Was told the wind is normal for that time of year so really nothing could be done.

There is only a few rooms which was very nice. The rooms were well decorated, spacious and comfortable. Every room has a great view. The owner is very nice and works hard to maintain it. The restaurant attached is very good.

Upon arrival our host Nancy was very attentive and accommodating to all our needs. The hotel is small and all of the rooms have a view of the beautiful lake. The sunsets were amazing. The restaurant was able to prepare vegetarian/gluten free lunch and dinner options for us. We ate our breakfasts in nearby restaurants due to the fact that we are vegan and don’t eat fruit and milk products. Nancy gave us great recommendations in restaurants and excursions. They also have a massage room so if you have time for a good massage you can book it right on the property. All and all a great 3 nights in Monte Verde exploring the natural beauty of the cloud forest, zip lining and hiking in the near by mountains.
