Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ArubaI stayed 5 days with my two kids in this hotel and we rented two huts. The kids loved them. The hotel is conveniently located for all major activities in the neighborhood. We did not have to drive much. It's also pretty close to town for if you want to eat somewhere else. The staff was very accommodating with requests for trips, but also if we needed breakfast prior to the regular opening time. Best was that after activities in the rain or on the river, we could dive into the warm water pools. Also great view of the volcano if its visible. Can only recommend staying here.

United StatesI didn't have anything I didn't like. I think it was priced right at around $100. Things I wish were different. 1 kinda water park looking meaning I wish the pools felt more natural. The bar and food areas and lounge areas didn't feel cheap but practical without more trending esthetics. However the plants and garden made up for this. The ewok house was actually cool during the day. I don't think I'd wanna stay in it more then a cpl nights but it was kinda fun but very basic. Plus as another reviewer wrote they should have spread them out more.
The location was great, the front desk person was great, the pools weren't bad, the room was cool looking from outside,.I recommend it for a short stay!

United StatesThe wifi was a bit in and out at times. The bungalows are small and simple, which we liked, but it's not for those looking for a fancier place to stay (there are two fancier, larger rooms to book at the hotel that I would recommend instead).
We really enjoyed our stay here! This is a small resort and we liked the more intimate feel of a smaller hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the property was beautiful and well maintained, and we loved having the thermal pools to relax in every evening. We stayed in a bungalow and liked that it was simple and very unique style accommodation. We also loved the sloth that lives just a 1-minute walk down the street from the property.

United StatesThey don't take Discover or Mastercard
They made it easy with all the amenities, convenient access to food with a great range of options for food as well as drinks. Plenty of seating. Plenty of room in the hot springs to stretch out and meditate. Reception was super kind, helpful and accommodating and had great local recommendations. The rooms were simple yet elegant. And of course, you can't beat volcano views! Despite being on the main road, this place is very quiet and private.

CanadaThough the cabins are very nice and newer, the huts were more of an experience. Yes, you are in the jungle, but creatures and bugs do get into the huts and left a mess which was a bit of a shock for our young adults/teenagers.
Lush grounds. Birds and monkeys all around. Cabin was great, hut was not as great. Quick drive into town for restaurants. Plenty of pools with differing temperatures. Not busy. Great view of volcano. Friendly staff.

United StatesYummy breakfast, with a fruit ball, coffee and different choices of pancakes, traditionally costa rican breakfast etc. The location is close to Arenal, La Fortuna waterfall, Mystic Park. The hot springs in this hotel are awesome. There are 4 of them with different temperatures. The staff was super helpful and friendly. It is a place with a very nice vibe. I stayed here with my 12 year old son and he loved it too.

United KingdomFood quality was inconsistent - tasty in the morning, quite bad in the evening (not sure about other times as I did not eat lunch there). I gave them this feedback and I felt listened. I understand that the staff members for AM and PM are different so PM staff may need more training. Pool temperature was all the same - the 'cold' pool felt warm and all the hot pools were pretty much of the same temperature. No variety.
The bungalows are unique - felt like glamping. Despite having no air conditioning (they have another type of accommodation which has air conditioning), it did not feel that hot in the morning or evening. Most visitors would be out during the hottest hours of the day so shouldn't matter too much.

United StatesI considered it pricey buy given the quality of the room, the thermal pools, parking being convenient to my room, worth the expence. It is an expensive area of the country…there are others that may be fancier but more expensive.
The room was excellent, large, with a very nice bathoom. The room had everything you could need such as a couch in separate seating area with a TV, a mini refrigerator, bench on a porch, and your car can be adjacent to the room. The thermals were a welcome leisure activity after a day of exploring. Breakfast was cooked to order.

CanadaSometimes, I felt the music at the pools was a bit loud, but the staff accepted to turn it down and that was really nice, because all the guests were relaxing, not partying .
I knew in advance that the room (bungalow) was extremely small, but I came to relax by the swimming pools (open until late into the evening). Staff was extremely friendly. Nice breakfast also. The guests were in a "calm and relax" mood (not a "party" mood) and I liked that. This place is away from the crowd, but still at a close driving distance to the center of La Fortuna, to nature areas (Arenal volcano, falls, sloths, bees, coffee, sugar cane, butterflies, etc.) and to restaurants. So the place is really ideally located. I recommend.

United KingdomThe property was about 3km outside of La Fortuna which was fine for us as we had a car - it may be a little more difficult without transport
We loved the simplicity of this lovely little gem of a property. The hot springs were amazing - staff very friendly and we had a deluxe chalet which was reasonably priced and absolutely excellent. Watching the local beautiful birds come down to the fruit laden bird tables whilst we ate breakfast was wonderful. Would definitely recommend.

United KingdomThe menu at the restaurant can have more variety.
We stayed in one of their cabins which we found spacious. The bed was comfortable and there were no mosquitos inside, with a well functioning AC system and no gaps. The garden is incredible, you have a good view of the volcano and we saw several birds in the garden like toucans and wild turkeys. The 5 pools are small but most of the time we would have an entire pool for ourselves and you can use them until late at night. We also enjoyed drinks in the pool most nights and the bartender, Adrian, takes order and brings drinks to you. All the staff are incredibly friendly and we really enjoyed the quietness and the privacy. The location is out of town (a few minutes walking from Ecotermales). Despite being out of town, you can walk a few minutes to the nearby restaurants and the shop. They also have an onsite restaurant but the menu is limited due the hotel being so small. The food was good though and the included breakfast is delicious, we loved the huevos rancheros.
