Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe smell in the house is musty and the kitchen furniture is really old stile. There are animals in the house (probably mice) that ate my fruit during night. You'll be charge for the short transfer from airport to accommodation with 20NZ$. Other accommodation in the same price class offer this for free.
The accommodation is large and specious. I liked to sit on the terrace. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need.

AustraliaI didn't like the cockroaches. There was a musty smell in the cupboards that I didn't like as well.
I liked the affordability of this property. We had five people staying and it was really difficult to find this sort of accommodation on the island. Most of the other places only took 2 and it would have cost us a fortune to book 3 rooms. The host was very accommodating and helped us out. We really wanted a cheap holiday for the family and this gave us just that. We were so appreciative. There is a brilliant restaurant just outside the property - some people say the best on the island. The food was amazing!!

New ZealandMaybe include more kitchen stuff like a bowl for making salads. A bbq would be great!
Beautiful spacious grounds. Quiet but close to Avatea cafe! It's a whole different vibe to staying on the beach. Go for walks and you meet the locals out gardening etc. We stayed 2 weeks and even were ablento watch the Olympics. It's a short scooter ride to beaches and various shops. Loved the pigs with piglets next to the drive. Queen Tutai was so helpful. Make sure you do a swim with the whales...amazing

LiechtensteinThe kitchen wasn’t clean at all. It’s outdated but functional.
Beautifully set amongst palm trees and any typical island trees. You do need transport to get around.

United StatesThanks again to Gina and family for always being available if help was needed. They assisted in helping me rent a scooter and provided other knowledge about Aitutaki. It wasn't super close to the main road, but with a scooter traveling anywhere on the island is pretty easy. For the price it was a good stay. Although next time I would probably book some place closer if I was traveling solo, but a great spot if traveling with other people. Thanks again for a great time!!

GermanyQuiet area in the middle of the island. Lush greenery around. Tutai was very welcoming and picked us up from the airport. The lodge has everything you need if you are like it basic and to be close to nature. All windows and doors are screened, didn’t had one mosquito inside. Excellent sleep. And water pressure we much appreciated (some shower have low pressure on the island). Kitchen is great. Avatea Cafe just next door! Amazing. Drive to town 5 min in the bike!

New ZealandSmall normal tweeks in any property, but truly nothing we didn't like.. maybe the bed was a little squeaky. The panel on the roof rattled a little in the wind.. and if you don't like geckos (we do), that might freak you a wee bit.. but hey, it's an island paradise holiday and such excellent value.
Everything!! Gina's is a real find.. It is super comfy with everything you need..tho rustic..it has fly screens, lovely flowers everywhere, privacy, great shower pressure, comfy beds.. and a great little kitchen and roomy bathroom. Amazing TV with 6 channels, too :) The owner is so lovely, picking us up and dropping us off to the airport..nothing was too much trouble. We can't wait to come back.. and so close to the best cafe on the island. Even tho the property is inland, it truly takes 5 mins transport to be next to the beautiful Lagoon.. and the gardens around the property are so stunning. No air con, just a fan and a gorgeous breeze..perfect for us.

New ZealandFrom my understanding that there is during siyclone season sometime not alot of food other than roosters to eat!! I have had to get ear plugs as you know roosters start crowing at 3am and thats every where all over the island, so it does not matter where one stay, you will hear them..
Nice spacious self contianed little house, one of onley 4, in a lovley big garden nestled away from the elements and yet close to the best food and little harbour to comute daily to an outer island for kiting and snorkeling, whale watching...

Australiawould be nice to see body wash and such provided, and some of the appliances in the kitchen refreshed.
Staying at Gina’s Garden was absolutely unique experience. This place is not a luxury accommodation, but it’s simplicity is rather charming. My most memorable thing as I look back was connecting with the owners and hearing their extraordinary life stories. I found it refreshing to just slow down and tune into the nature’s rhythm, assertively facilitated by the roosters. Don’t push against it, go with its flow to get the most out of it.

New ZealandCute lodges that were surprisingly spacious! Great value for money as could sleep up to 5 people. It was further inland than we realised but everything was still very close even on bicycles. What made the trip was our hosts - Ariki of the area, Tutai and her husband Papa Des. So generous with their knowledge and accommodating! An honour to meet them. Nice food place close by also.

New ZealandDefinitely need some wheels, unless you don’t mind the scenic walk.
The bird song in the morning was pleasant to wake up to, got a few photos and videos of the Blue Lorikeet (Bird of the year), loved the peace and tranquility inland. The early checkin was highly appreciated, key pick up process was great, very informative. Might be basic but all the beds were comfortable, managed to cook and warm food up, the tv channels were plenty and clear. The amenities were clean and well stocked.
