Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Fantastic location right in the heart of the cultural precinct at Queens St West. Lots of food options around as well. The Jazz music at the bar just filters through and sounds so good even in the room (not noisy at all)

United StatesThe floors were kind of dirty and the parking situation was very confusing (not really the hotels fault as they do state that they don't have their own parking). But other than that, everything was exactly what I thought it would be.
The Rex was exactly what I expected it to be. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it, but if you like charming, ecclectic hotels that have their own identity, this was definitely that. The beds were small and not the greatest but we don't tend to hang out in hotel rooms much so it completely served its purpose for our stay in Toronto. The location is prime and you can't beat the price. It was also incredibly quiet for being above the Jazz bar. We got a room all the way up in the back and we didn't hear anything or really even see any other guests while we were there so it was perfectly quiet.

During my recent stay at The Rex, I had a meeting at the Sheraton, which conveniently happened to be within walking distance from the hotel. I must say, I found The Rex to be a smart choice in terms of both budget-friendliness and its strategic location. The room I stayed in was cozy and comfortable, providing a pleasant atmosphere throughout my stay. In fact, I have no further complaints or issues to raise about the hotel. Overall, I was highly satisfied with my experience at The Rex.

IrelandThe only bad thing I can say is that the Wi-Fi is very poor and would often drop out altogether when I was spending my downtime in the room.
The staff were very friendly and the food and atmosphere was top-notch. The daily jazz show is a nice way to spend a few hours. The best part of the hotel is the location - on Queen Street West in the heart of Downtown Toronto. CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium, the Rogers Centre, Nathan Philips Square, and the waterfront are all within walking distance and there's bus and tram stops as well as a subway station right on your doorstep. There's also a plethora of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, so you'll never be without somewhere to go for a bite to eat. This hotel is best suited to sole travelers or groups of two who just need somewhere to put their head down in between visiting attractions.

CanadaThis is my fourth time at the hotel and it was the least "polished"room. However, it was squeaky clean . Arrangement for hanging clothes could have been better. Facial tissues would be appreciated. Although there was a window the air conditioner made it so that you could not see out the window except for a bit of sky.
Can't beat location. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent and good value. Loved listening to live music while having dinner. Staff friendly and helpful. I walk with a cane. I am quite capable but I do very much appreciate the offers of assistance from the staff. The mattress and pillow were very comfortable.

CanadaI messed up on Booking, I guess and ended up with a room without ensuite bathroom. My fault. But won't make that mistake again. The charge is, in my opinion, high considering if you wake up in the middle of the night needing to pee, you need to go across the hall. But perhaps the most unpleasant thing was that when I went to eat at the downstairs bar/resto (which has good food) despite there being maybe 20 minutes left in the music set, I was asked to pay $10 to get in. As a hotel guest. So I went instead to a local takeout and left work in the room for the cleaners with all the containers and wrappers. Not my idea of hospitality, and a silly policy when you're already paying $200 (or whatever) for no toilet or shower.
I am a repeat visitor. The location (I walk to Union and there is a nearby TTC stn), and the live music downstairs are why I choose to stay here. The breakfast is my favourite hotel breakfast.
