Inside the hotel and rooms it was VERY cold. Temperature when I stayed was only between 7-13°C. I asked at reception why the heating wasn't working and was told that it was too early! That was 1-2 October 2024. I was given a tiny heater, but it didn't make any difference. For the expensive price, the rooms are very dated.

The location was great - right by the sea at English Bay and close to Stanley Park. For CAD$348 a night, breakfast wasn't included! Had dinner and breakfast, at my own expense. Food and service was very good.

The delivery trucks come very early in the morning on the rear side of the hotel and stay parked with their engines running very loud for at least 1,5 hours. We were not able to sleep in . A shame when you are on holiday

The first room we went into on the 2nd floor smelled like insecticide and dog. Even after opening the windows and using the fan provided we took a two hour walk. Came back to the room and it still smelled the same. So I asked the front desk if we could move to a different room on a higher floor. I was told they couldn't put us on a higher floor because only king size beds were only on the 2nd floor. I later found out that I was lied to upon check out that there are indeed king size beds in rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor. I was told only those rooms on those floors are for direct reservations made through the hotel only, not through a 3rd party like Bookings. So for my grievance we were only offered a room down at the end of the hall by the exit. Our view in this room was of the back parking lot. At least it didn't smell, however the bed creaked. Upon looking at my receipt of our bill that I was shocked to see all the different tax charges they ad to your bill. This was not disclosed when booking the room. For all the hype about this historical hotel I was greatly disappointed. I felt robbed and cheated. Our stay at the Warwick hotel in New York City the week before was more impressive and delightful than the Sylvia hotel in Vancouver Canada.

Location was great, breakfast good, cleaning staff friendly

Our room was noisy with no view, only on second floor and next to the entrance to the parking garage so there was a lot of car music even late. We booked without a lot of notice so got a less favorable room.

Great location, right on English Bay and next to Stanley Park Free parking Best rooms are in the older building higher up facing the water.

Cold, dark, smelly. The radiator does not work, it has a moldy smell inside, dark. Very disappointing. High extra price for parking. The management did not want to also issue any refund for the days unspent when we had to check out early to run away from this place. Way overrated for the rating it has.

We reserved a King one bedroom. When we got to the room, it had a king but was in the same room not in a bedroom. I asked at the front desk and they told me that some rooms are like that. Not what we expected. One of us gets up early and the other sleeps in. Thats why we wanted a separate bedroom. Not happy with this. Save your money on the restaurant. In 42 years of marriage this was the worst meal we have ever had in a restaurant hands down. The wait staff was nice but the food was so bad we didn't eat it. Actually disgusting!

Nice location and room was large and very quiet.

I’ll start at the beginning. First of all, I had to call the back of my credit card to activate my card. I had no idea my card was not activated. The receptionist told me maybe I don’t have enough money on my card and I found her tone very rude as a result. I was polite and finally I fixed my card and talked to another lady who was more upbeat. When I got to my room it was freezing. I called 0 and was told to find the thermostat. There was no thermostat in my room and so someone came up to find nob on the heater on the floor and told me to be patient. We went out and when we returned the room was still freezing. I called 0 again and another man came up with a small space heater. I went out and left my wife who was accompanying me in the room. When I returned she was calling 0 complaining that the small heater wasn’t enough and that she wanted another one and a blanket to which they replied “ haven’t you looked in the closet of your room” . They came up with a blanket and a larger heater which would heat the room. The attendant let it be known that the east side of the building has a working heater and thermostat and next time I stay I should ask to stay there but they won’t change our room today. All of this started to sound very cheap. Why not fix your furnace? Their answer for everything is that “it’s a heritage building” well guess what? Even “heritage buildings” can be repaired. Why give us a small heater that won’t work? Only then to return with a larger one that will? Now I’m in a bad mood. Our sleep was at first too hot with the heater on then far too cold with it off. In the morning I called 0 to complain that there is no tooth brush, no comb and the towels are musky smelling. To which they let me know that the towels are to be reused and they aren’t giving toothpaste/toothbrush kits or combs because they are running low on supplies. They brought us some up as if that’s some special task for them.

I like the outside of the building. I feel that instead of purchasing this hotel we could have simply taken a picture with it

The room had some issues. The plugs weren't working, so even if I wanted to use the mini fridge it wasn't connected. The room was dusty.

The location is the hotels best amenity. It's right across the beach, not far from Stanley Park and in a very walkable area where everything is going on.
