Facing the seafront in Kota Belud, Bigfin beach resort features a private beach area. Offering a restaurant, the property also has a garden. The property provides sea views and a terrace. Two thumbs up. This place is so well run and maintained. All staff are so kind, helpful and reliable. There is no pressure whatsoever to book any of the tours. The staff are completely open about what they do and don't offer, so no unpleasant surprises - all is exactly as advertised. I had prepared to be pretty much cut off from the world for the 3 days of my stay, but to my pleasant surprise Wifi was solid all day in the reception area and the evening hours of power supply in the rooms easily sufficed to keep my devices charged. Assorted books and board games add to the character of the place, as do the adorable cats and, yes, the two or three monitor lizards seen around. The hammocks were comfortable and in ample supply. Beautiful and tranquil garden setting, fabulous views, awesome stretch of near-private beach with lovely fine sand. And to experience all that without any noise from road traffic? Just an unforgettable experience.

We had the most amazing stay at Bungaraya! The location is idyllic, the staff are the best, most wonderful people and were fantastic at helping organise a proposal 🥂. It is the ideal place to learn about the conservation efforts and get away from the world. We really liked that we couldn't get wifi in the villa as it made us disconnect and appreciate where we were more but that might not be practical for everyone. The food was delicious and fresh with a mix of local and international flavours. All in all a wonderful place and hopefully we will be back in the future! **Side note - we were lucky enough to stay at the Gayana Marine resort on the other side of the island for a few days and it was equally amazing! Very relaxed vibes, perfect if you want seclusion and watch the marine life 🐟

Sea Star Resort Semporna is situated in Semporna. Boasting a 24-hour front desk, this property also welcomes guests with a family-friendly restaurant and a sun terrace. the service was outstanding. in particular Daniel and Sebastian. Daniel went out of his way to make us comfortable, even took us to restaurants on the main land to show us around. wow. amazing guy. always smiling

Set amidst a nature reserve overlooking the South China Sea, Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Kota Kinabalu features relaxing stays in elegantly furnished guest rooms. The breakfasts were the best we've had on our travels- huge buffet selection plus an a la carte selection. Evening meals were also excellent at Oceano restaurant. The staff were outstanding- super helpful

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a private pool, city view and a patio, Petronella Apartment C1 Marina Court is located in Kota Kinabalu. Perfect localization, walk distance to all places in KK. Helpfull owner, lot of space, well equiped. Verry recomended.

Timba Garden FREE TOWN AND JETTY TRANSPORT has a garden, shared lounge, a restaurant and bar in Semporna. Great little spot in a jungle neighborhood. Super friendly owners. We were hungry when we arrived and they were making chicken curry for their lunch, and added us to the preparations. Very unique location. I slept really well then off the next day for diving.

Featuring 3-star accommodation, Kokol Haven Resort is situated in Kota Kinabalu, 15 km from Filipino Market Sabah and 11 km from Likas City Mosque. I liked the amazing view of the sunset, mountains, garden, and the early check-in. All the staff were friendly; what I liked most was that the manager was humble enough to talk to guests—asking how they could improve, offering what I needed, and even going beyond that by taking a picture of me, as I am a solo traveler. 😀 Moreover, I took a jungle trek, and it was a good experience—a replacement for the gym, a chance to enjoy nature and hike. I liked the food (you can only rely on their restaurant because I think there are none nearby). The Wi-Fi is a bit intermittent but able to manage work calls. The room is spacious. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, you can come here for a retreat experience. It would not be called Haven for no reason!🥰
