What I liked about Ålesund is that it is a real city (...
What I liked about Ålesund is that it is a real city (population 59,000) with its own culture and not just a tourist trap consisting of hotels, cafés, and souvenir shops that exist soley for the sake of the cruise ships. Therefore there are several top restaurants in town (which are not cheap, however!) Very popular with the locals as well as out of town visitors. (Restaurants: Bro, Apotekergata No.5, & XL Diner) The historical district is extra-beautiful because of the famous 1904 fire and art nouveau reconstruction which adds special flavor to it unmatched elsewhere. Makes for some cute museums as well. The Aksla viewpoint is a manageable hike and well worth it (418 + steps)! Plenty to do for 2-3 days but a great place also to relax and hang out longer if you are in to boating, walking beautiful streets, side-walk cafés, local culture, etc. Easy access to Geiranger fjord and Troll's Road too!Guest review byRodneyUnited States - 8.0

Damn cruise ships - block the view and disgorge 1000's who monopolize the gondola.... hello cruisers, there are other people in the world you know - and we're not loud & obnoxious - come all the way from New Zealand to hear loud & obnoxious - sheesh .... Americans & aussies - not all, but enough .. how do you manage to even wipe your own ar*es Other than that - utterly utterly great place indeed .... AND do the Golden Train - OMG spectacular - literally jaw dropping sceneryGuest review byChrisNew Zealand - 10.0
Molde is at the western coast of Norway.
Molde is at the western coast of Norway. There is plenty of rainy weather, but when the sun shines, there is hardly a better place to visit. The stunning beauty of the mountains across the fiord is absolutely magnificent. There are nice hotels, but the prices are quite high to be a city of the size of less than 30K citizens. Maybe the cost-level reflects the history of tourism when the royal families from different nations of Europe frequented this part of Norway. You will find friendly staff at all places, but you could also pop into those who might take you as a visitor for granted. Maybe if you smile, you could get somebody smiling back to you.Guest review byKarl-Axel57Norway - 8.0

I went to Kristiansund primarily because it is so well connected and I wanted to visit a small Norwegian town on my way to Trondheim. There is not much going on here, but it is still an interesting place to visit for sure. And make sure to take a ride on Sundbåten, it is rather lovely.Guest review byAndriiUkraine - 10.0

The fjord is beautiful. There is hiking near by. Activity business right in town. Food options are limited unless you are RV/Caravan travel. No need to travel Troll Road when you are able to get to the overlook/ tourist center to have a good look. There is a need to travel Troll road for access to the north to avoid a long circle drive.Guest review byStevenUnited States - 8.0

A property that could do with some face-lift such as better and faster service offerings. Albeit negative reviews, was pleasantly surprised to experience the opposite. A nice and quiet pla e with simple amenities providing good value for money. If you don't expect too much, you will enjoy the stay. Reqlly nice and friendly staff.Guest review byRajNorway - 10.0

The area of Eisdal is one of the most beautiful in the fiords zone in Norway beeing really close to Norddsalfjorden and Geiranger Fjorden. There are several possibilities for hiking reaching some really panoramic summit like Grojet and Keipan. We also took the chance to visit Alesund driving for 90 km.Guest review byEdoardoItaly - 2.0

When you are visiting Geiranger, you need to reach Stranda through a ferry and the times for the ferry are not good. They have a ferry once a hour in the evenings and you will end up wait for an hour sometimes when you miss the previous oneGuest review byKrishna C SistlaSweden - 10.0
There's so much to see and do in this part of Norway.
There's so much to see and do in this part of Norway. I spent a lot of time hiking on the islands around the town, and travelling on the excellent local buses, but the town itself is fascinating and has a colourful history which is well described in the central museum. It's a very friendly and trusting place and the population seem to be well integrated. And the bonus is that Norway is no longer as expensive as it used to be.Guest review byAnonymous
