The hotel is located in little distance from city center - it’s silent and calm but still close to the beach and restaurants. The building itself it’s surrounded by plants, it’s really green and you feel like in a big botanic garden. The atmosphere there is friendly and you feel like home, everyone from the staff is helpful and nice (Adolfo the nicest person on earth) Rooms are quite big, clean and have a hammock. Breakfast is freshly cooked (you can choose from the menu) and papaya marmalade is addictive.

Very Comfortable bed. Best towels yet in Mexico - soft and fluffy. Quiet room. It was quite nice having a little kitchenette - plates, utensils, cups, fridge, microwave. The room and bathroom were beautiful (rm 25). Staff were so helpful and quick to respond (via booking app) to questions. The place was spotless. Short walk to the zocolo. Safe town to walk in at night - we walked from the bus station.

This stop was not planned as we were in Tulum and the beaches were not very nice and had a lot of sargassum we looked for an alternative and we found El Cuyo and this amazing hotel Nikau. It has nothing to do with Tulum. The beach was long and clean and had nothing of sargassum. There isn’t any beach clubs but that is a good thing, as we can sit and lay anywhere and literally be on our own! The hotel was exclusive and quiet with amazing decor and good vibes. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the cocktails at the were so yummy and fresh! We hope to come back soon and stay much longer than just one night.

    Stayed at the Sun Palace:

Stayed at the Sun Palace: Food and services were top of the game! Javier waited on us more than once, remembering our order from the day before. He was an outstanding asset to our stay.. seeing familiar faces at each place at the resort was reassuring. All 4 restaurants were delicious, breakfast lunch and dinner, do try them all. We took the bus to the busy shopping area and felt safe. Lots of beautiful things to take home! Senior Frogs, a bar , was entertaining as well. We were delighted to see a Sea turtle laying eggs, nearby, and many tracks and turtle pits each morning. Pool and games were very entertaining, as well as meeting many people from various places. Our travel from the airport was confusing to find our pick up site. This resulted in having a scammer put us in a cab for WAY to much money.. the “contact on the phone said he’d refund our $$, only to find he was not part of the resorts transportation crew. This is for the most part an upscale resort. Most people dressed nice casual for restaurants, and is not as required for daytime dining. Bring sundresses and collared (casual) shirts . Bring your own insulated cups for drinking by the pools , or purchase onsite. The swim up bar is a treat!

Checked out early as couldn’t stay here any longer. Tried to raise a complaint with the duty manager and was treated worse after doing so. Food is bad and you have to Que to get into the buffet restaurant because they claim they are not busy due to low season so not opening up all of the restaurant. Oh and you get charge £150 if you loose your room key.

Tulum south is good, friendly and helpful people . It didn’t seem right to pay to visit paradise beech. No clear guidelines to visit beeches via resorts. We visited Tulum ruins but very unclear about the genuine ticket office as we were stopped at three places to buy tickets by unofficial representatives.

Very nice island if you're okay with walking/bicycling a bit. Definitely a place for people in good physical shape, as there are many missing bricks, uneven surfaces, and potholes throughout the streets. Absolutely wonderful food, and generally friendly people at every turn. More low-key than Isla Mujeres, and will be my go to from now on for a relaxing beach trip. Bring sunscreen and bug spray!

Valladolid is a lovely little Pueblo Magico with lots of charm. It is clean and easy to navigate by car or on foot, there are a lot of cenotes nearby(one right in the Centro) as well as the archiologico site Ek'Balam or Chichén Itzá close by. There were lots of places to eat yummy food, buy gifts and dive into the Yucatecán culture. It was a quick 2 hour drive from Merida and we will be back for another weekend trip to enjoy the lovely people and vibe here.

I enjoyed the natural beauty of the areas outside the touristy downtown area. I rented a scooter and drove the entire perimeter of the island (about 2 hours around without stops), but there are a few sightseeing locations, so plan a bit more time. I was there to go scuba diving and it did not disappoint. Once you get out of the touristy areas Cozumel is basically a rundown Caribbean island with not much to offer.
