FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre
Cliff-Hugging Beauty
One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.
Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.
The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.
Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.
The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

La Spezia is a military, commercial and cruise liner port, so not particularly interesting for tourists. However, it is well situated for Le Cinque Terre and other tourist areas. A good stopping off point in your travels.Guest review byMauriceUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We visited all 5 villages and Monterosso was by far the best place to stay . The tourist office in Monterosso suggested a walk cause it was easier . None of the walks are easy especially in summer heat ! Most are advanced I would say with many stepsGuest review byMarkAustralia - 10.0

Levanto is in a great spot on the edge of the Cinqueterre National Park. There are fewer tourists here than in the Cinque Terre villages, but the whole national park is easily accessible from here. It's easy to travel from Pisa to Carrara, La Spezia, Cinqueterre, Genoa or even Milan because of the excellent rail connections. There are many hiking trips on marked trails in the area. The beaches are clean and comfortable. The sea is warm. The landscape is beautiful. At night, there is dancing in the main square. We also went to a free concert at St. Andrew's Church.Guest review byAlexCzech Republic - 10.0

It was good to stay at one end of the string of five towns, take the ferry to the other end, and work our way back. Riomaggiore seemed to have more dining options than the other towns except for Monterroso, and wasn't too costly.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Vernazza is absolutely "picture perfect" and my favourite...
Vernazza is absolutely "picture perfect" and my favourite village, so far, of the Cinque Terre. It's small enough to feel cosy and intimate but busy enough to have everything you could possibly want or need during your stay. It's colourful gelato-coloured houses and streets, are such a delight! The port is stunning and is surrounded by lovely bars and restaurants and overlooks the calmer waters of the port bay, with it's fishing boats. The access was easy via car (leaving it at a custodian carpark and using a shuttle service to/from town). We also used trains which were extremely efficient ,modern and clean. Unfortunately we couldn't use the ferry service as the seas were very high during our stay. Our anniversary dinner was spectacular and so much fun, due to crashing waves and delightful staff! We highly recommend the BELFORTE restaurant on the end of the point, for its atmosphere, fabulous architecture, friendly & warm staff and absolutely fabulous food and wine choices! We were also fortunate enough to expereince the weekly market in Vernazza (Tuesday) which was fun and had lots of fabulous bargains, artisan pieces, clothings, food and decorative items. For those that aren't great walkers, we found Vernazza one of the easier villages to stroll through. Unless you're headed up to a restaurant or accomodation (lots of stairs) the main shopping and eating areas from the train station downwards towards the sea, are relatively flat and easy for most, I would say. A trip to the Cinque Terre, without seeing Vernazza would be a terrible shame!Guest review byMarisaAustralia - 8.0

Portovenere is a perfect place to stay, if looking for a quieter place but similar scenery to Cinque Terre. Lots of things to do from hiking, boat trips to other resorts and well connected to La Spezia by local bus.Guest review byJeanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
3 nights was enough to see Manarola a lot.
3 nights was enough to see Manarola a lot. We swam, had dinner nightly, met the locals in the wine bar just above the church and visited 2 other towns. Our hotel room was at the very top of the town, and then up 3 flights of stairs. It was a very steep hill. Be sure you know where your hotel is, it's a very vertical town.Guest review byLilyannUnited States - 10.0

Quaint little town with easy access to other Cinque Terre towns. Great hiking. 34 flights of stairs from train to town so maybe not a good place if you don’t do stairs. We really liked the town but it isn’t the place if you’re looking for a party scene.Guest review byRichmondUnited States - 10.0

Deiva Marina is a nice smaller town by the sea, which is very clean. The town lays in the valley surrounding by green mountains. There is an excellent train connection through coast, you can comfortably go to Cinque Terre, La Spezia, Portofino, Genoa.Guest review byRadkaCzech Republic
