We had an excellent weekend! The hotel is modern, spotlessly clean, and very cozy – we truly felt at home. The staff was extremely helpful and polite throughout our stay. We booked a standard room, which was perfect for two people and featured large windows with a lot of natural light. In the evening, we reserved a table at the hotel restaurant. The prices are above average, but the service was professional and the food delicious – well worth it. Breakfast was also fantastic: varied and beautifully presented.

Town is full of history with medieval houses and a hilltop castle that is very popular for German tourists. English is not common, especially in restaurant or their menus, so sometimes difficult for non-German speakers. Great place to visit Harz Mountains hiking areas and the Titan-RT suspension bridge and Dam and the Wendefurth reservoir for boating. Harz Railway Steam train to the Broken Mountain.

A lovely traditional German town Good restaurants, bars etc Good location to explore the Harz Mountains Try the local cable car - for breath-taking views from the top However, the location is now a testimony to global warming and devastation of the surrounding forests If you were a climate denier before - you will not be after a visit - unfortunately Although this should not distract you from visiting the Braunlage area!

If you want nature for your holiday, then Ilsenburg is the right choice! Mountains, trees, fantastic view from top! For hiking it’s one of the best route! Unfortunately, there’s also part of nature that, most of the trees are affected by the fest or plague so you will see that a lot of trees are dying or dead and some mountain are bald! Anyhow, we did hiking down and up till Brocken! And up there , 1142 m high is breathtaking👍😊

Wernigerode is a beautiful city, easy to get around as mainly flat. Wonderful medieval architecture, good shops, nice people, good restaurants,. There is a castle - currently having work done but that’s ok we’ve been before. Easy access to other gems like Quedlinburg and Goslar - we used the bus. The Harz National Park is great for exploring if you have your car too - and a trip on the steam train up to The Brocken is worth doing. Wernigerode has museums, churches, half timbered buildings and a castle! Great Italian restaurant just off Breite Street.

The city hall and Kaiserpfalz in town are well worth visiting and Rammelsberg is a must see UNESCO world heritage site.
