Alto Log Cabin is located on the dolomite riffs of the Kromdraai area in the Cradle of Humankind. PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR 7 km TWO TRACK DIRT ROAD IS MOST SUITABLE FOR SUVS, SMALL SUVS AND BAKKIES. This charming wooden cabin comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 with double bed and the other with 2 single beds as well as a bathroom with a shower over bath, basin, and toilet. There is also a well-equipped kitchen with 2-plate stove with mini-oven, fridge-freezer, crockery and cutlery. The open-plan living area comprises a lounge and dining area. Leading out from the living area is a wooden deck with a gas braai and an outdoor patio set, all boast breathtaking views of the Cradle and Magalies mountains. For nature lovers, there is also the opportunity for horseriding and walking or mountain biking trails. In the evenings guests can enjoy stargazing and if lucky, hear a lion roar. Alto Log Cabin is close to attractions such as the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve, Maropeng, Sterkfontein Caves and more. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT ONLY HIGH GROUND CLEARANCE VEHICLES TRAVEL ON THIS ROAD.

Here are a few things to do in the area whilst staying at Alto Log Cabin: - Spend a day fishing at Brookwood Trout Farm, or Bergsig Trout Farm. - Go on a guided tour of the Kromdraai Gold Mine (Did you know that Kromdraai was ahead of the Johannesburg gold rush?) - Enjoy a couple of hours on horseback at Alto Horse Trails – they cater for beginners to experienced riders - Visit the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve for a self drive experience or a guided game drive. - Don’t forget to pop in at the spectacular Wonder Caves. - Why not enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Heritage in the Cradle Moon Conservancy. - Visit Maropeng, the official visitor centre for The Cradle of Humankind. - The Sterkfontein Caves are world famous for their fossil finds, including “Mrs Ples” and “Little Foot”. - Avianto and Cradle Moon Conservancy offer mountain bike trails. - Don’t forget to relax at one of the many Spa’s in the area, including Riverview Spa, Woodlands Spa, Kloofzicht Spa and Glenburn Spa.
