Herriot's Nook is a cosy 2 bedroom holiday let in the centre of Thirsk, a stone's throw from the many shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and tourist attractions.
Bedroom 1 is a double bedroom and Bedroom 2 is a twin. We have a fully equipped dining kitchen including a kettle, toaster, washing machine, fridge/freezer and oven/grill. The cosy lounge has a TV, fireplace and looks out over St James' Green. There is 1 bathroom, with a bath and over bath shower. The cottage is centrally heated and we provide our guests with fresh bedding and towels, as well as free WiFi.
Herriot's Nook sleeps up to 4 people.
Herriot’s Nook is in a residential area so parking directly outside and around the property is free. We will send you instructions on how to reach us.
Please note that the accommodation is over 2 storeys and the bedrooms and bathroom are only accessible by stairs. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
Check in is at 3pm at the earliest - we will let you know how to collect the keys. Check out is 11am on the day of departure
Cath and Adrian look forward to extending you a warm welcome to Herriot's Nook. We will try, wherever possible, to accommodate any requests. If you would like to drop your bags off before you check in, then this can be arranged, but please be aware that the previous guests will not be vacating the property until 11am and the cottage will be cleaned during this time.
We became owners of the property in late November 2020 so please note that reviews left before that date were for the same property but run by the previous hosts. We aim to continue to offer the same high standard of accommodation, comfort, hospitality and cleanliness at Herriot’s Nook.
Herriot’s Nook is on the doorstep of The Herriot Museum, Thirsk Museum, Ritz Cinema and Thirsk Racecourse, and a short drive from amazing walks and beautiful scenery such as Sutton Bank National Park, the White Horse, Aysgarth Falls and Roseberry Topping. We have great transport links to fantastic historical towns such as York, Harrogate and Leeds. The property directly overlooks the communal green of St James' Green and there is a riverside walk with picnic area less than 2 minutes' walk away.
The previous owners tell us there are many fantastic places to eat and drink in and around Thirsk. We aim to try them all ourselves! Their recommendations are:
Live music at the Little 3 (Thursday and Saturday nights) and a great Sunday roast
Breakfast at Bliss café (served all day. Families and dogs very welcome)
Bagels and Bakes for amazing take away lunches
Upstairs Downstairs - fabulous deli and comfort food cafe
Racha Thai Bistro (a hidden gem), the Crab and Lobster (pricey but heavenly food a short taxi drive away), the Kings Arms in Sandhutton, the Old Oak Tree in South Kilvington and The Carlton Inn at Carlton Husthwaite.
Bianco's - a new and super popular Italian!
